Kelvin ThompsonTexas RB confused
by Jeremy Patterson of Scout.com, January 17, 2006 at 12:11am ET Kelvin Thompson Profile Mineral Wells running back Kelvin Thompson has had an offer on the table from Iowa State for a while, but has had a hard time making a decision so far in the recruiting process. "I'm kind of confused right now," Thompson said. "I feel like SMU and Houston might be close to offering, but Baylor and TCU seem real interested sometimes and not so much others." The 6-foot-0, 188-pound Thompson rushed for 1,898 yards and 25 touchdowns as a senior. "I'm not sure when I will make a decision. I will probably wait all the way up until signing day. All of these teams are pretty even right now, no one has seperated themselves. I'm just staying patient to see who comes through with an offer."
This kid has great numbers and I read somewhere he runs a 4.5ish 40 time. We seem to be pretty set at the running back position. Do we think this kid might convert to a nice safety? Or maybe we move one of our current RB's to DB. Wasn't Dorsey originally recruited as a DB? With numbers like that in highschool it seems like you would want to get this guy in a Mustang uniform regardless what position he ends up playing.
On a side note, it excites me to see guys like Burley and potentially Thompson choose SMU over offers from bigger BCS conference programs such as Kansas, Mizzu, Iowa, Iowa St. etc. It really shows that SMU is becoming a more desireable place for highschool football recruits.
Thompson...Have we offered him yet?
As far as I've heard (although I'm often a little behind, since I analyze players, not track offers): no.
a recent report said SMU coaches were scheduled to visit him in Mineral Wells this week. Also he said UH was suppose to come by and visit this week. Thompson was quoted as saying that he felt that SSMU and UH were the closest to offering.
.....and I hear he makes a great bottle of Water too:
Thompson Senior Stats: -2,131 yards on 205 carries -10.3 yards per carry -31 TDs -3 TD passes -2,761 All Purpose Yards -194 points -57 Tackles -3 Ints -2 Forced Fumbles -1 Fumble Recovery -District Offense Player of the Year -found a 22.28 200 Meters(Regional Qualifier at Least) --found a 21.6 and 3/4 Broad Jump -Team finished 6th in 400 Meter Ralays at 4A Meet.

That's some high quality H20...now if we just get mama to start calling TCU "the devil". ![]()
We must get this kid.. he is a gamebreaker.. I watched him play the last two years as I did sidelines for Aledo.. he had no talent around him and played RB and FS in a 4-4 defense..
This would be a great pick up that the big schools don't know about... Please get him
I still can't understand why Kelvin Thompson hasn't landed somewhere. I thought it might be academics but on the Mineral Wells site they say not only was he First Team All-DFW Metroplex but Academic All-State as well. Pretty nice combination when you throw in his Great Career,
maybe his momma makes the coaches eat snake? Or maybe he is waiting for the Roy Orbison tattoo to appear and show him the way.
The donkey's name is Kiki.
On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney? Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.
Thompson...Hopefully he becomes a Mustang.
