I don't know if this is regurgitated news or updated news but I read an article from some where in the South dated today about 6-7 200 Forward David Booker from Moss Point Miss. that quoted his coach as saying that he has narrowed his choices to SMU, Memphis and A&M-this was reported by Rivals before Christmas too which I previously posted. The new part is that his coach said that Bob Gibbons rates Booker as the best unsigned player in the South for 2006. The old report on Rivals did not list offers from Memphis or A&M yet.

That is some pretty good company to be in (Memphis and Texas A&M). Especially a recruit from Mississippi.

Oh I forgot to post that he averages around 27 points and 12 rebounds so this guy is having a great year. Rivals has had him rated a 3 star since before his senior season. Has also been offered by Colorado St, and South Alabama. Northwestern may also have some interest.

we could certainly use a guy who can score from the 3 position and I'm assuming that's where Tubbs sees him? I like Bamba backed up by Rack at the 5, Morris and Ike at the 4, Pearson and ? at the 3, Roberts and ? at 2 and Willingham and ? at the point for next year. I suppose with 2 yrs experience, Killen may be counted on to contribute a few more minutes next year, but BHop's leaving will leave a huge void in the backcourt. Next year's team will have to spread things around and be incredibly balanced (scoring wise), but I think that starting 5 (after playing together this year and with the FR maturing physically) gives us a chance to be at least as good as this year's team.

If this guy can light it up from the 3, get him on board. With those rebounding numbers, sounds like he may also be playing at PF at times. All the better, as that would give Tubbs some options to go with a smaller, quicker lineup at times.

Anytime somebody from Mississippi is mention online with an interest in SMU or vice versa, I think it is a typo and the writer meant Southern Miss.

If Tubbs can pull this off you have to give him a ton of credit!

New Rivals article indicates that 4 schools lead for his services; SMU, USC, Northwestern, and Boston College. SMU is the only school of still being considered of his previous 3 favorites; SMU, Memphis, and Texas A$M. The article did not indicate that he has yet been offered, but a previous article quoted him saying that SMU had offered :?: He appears to be leaning toward Northwestern, because it is close to his home town of Chicago. He has averaged 26 points a game. Maybe we have him on hold until Slim Shady makes up his mind

sounds like we could use his scoring ability. If the kid is from Chicago it will be hard to keep him away from the Big 10 if Northwestern wants him bad enough.

He sounds like a promising prospect who can put the ball in the hoop, hopefully he wants to be a Mustang!

arrange for and then tell him that we'll have road games vs. UIC, NW'ern, Valpo, Purdue, Illinois and N. Illinois while he's here.

David Booker committed to Charlotte over SMU, Boston College, Northwestern and Tulane. So who now are we focusing on with that last scholarship-is it Brian Morris' high school teammate from Oregon?
