there is an article on Scout that says we offered a WR Austin Yancy last week during a vist and he will likely accept. Previously, offered by UTEP although that was earlier. He seems ready to commit to SMU but now is presently visiting Stanford this weekend. Was also considering Harvard > Big WR at 6-3.5. I will update later after I get home from the bars or if I get lucky tommorrow.

Those are some top academic schools. If education is a top priority over the quality of the football program, I expect him to choose Harvard or Stanford over SMU.

Word is (at least some of) the coaches are absolutely enamored with this guy, although that's about fourth-hand information, so take it for what it's worth. I have no idea who he is.

No pretty good thank you. OK here's the lowdown. 35 catches for over 400 yards 3 TDs plus 2 TDs running as a Senior. I can see how he might have been a little overlooked since Clear Lake went 0-10 as a Junior. He says they were primarily a running team and he spent most of the season blocking which improved his blocking skills. Caught only 7 passes for 65 yards. The coaching staff got fired and Clear Lake opened it up as a Senior. Also plays Safety and Stanford may be recruiting him at that position. First Team All 24-5A at WR. He is still going through the laborious application procedure at Stanford and has not yet been officially accepted but geez he has a 4.47 GPA on a 4 point scale and ranks in the Top 10 in his high school class so that shouldn't be a problem. 3 sport athlete- also Basketball(9 rebounds just the other Nite) and Track-District Champion as a Junior in the High Jump at 6-6 and runner-up in the Triple Jump at 43.5. Also runs the 400 Meters although I didn't find a time. Reportedly runs a 4.55 but that is unverified.

I believe that Yancy may have committed to Stanford. Stanford's site is hinting that they got a tall WR and there is a report on Scout but I don't have access to it.

Scout now officially lists Yancy Austin as a Stanford commit.
