Anyone see Shady on TV last night? He mentioned the names of the four schools he has narrowed his list down to and mentioned SMU first on two occasions. Do not think it mean much of anything but at least we are definitely on hiis mind.
Good interview and Shady is well spoken. Anyone wlse see it? SMU...2nd to None
But it was Scout, his mom, and most importantly Stallion posted we were out if it. Obviously Shady is wrong.
Re: Anyone see Shady on TV last night?
What station was he on?
Arthur...Yes... He would be a huge addition. I hope Arthur realizes that here at SMU he could take us to the NCAA tournament and become a first round draft pick.
Can he get us to the tourney though? I mean, do we have enough talent around him to get us there? No offense, but outside of Memphis CUSA is somewhat weak in bball, and it will take beating Memphis and winning the tourney to most likely get to the tournament. Maybe he could get us to the tourney if his arrival would convince other high profile guys to join him. But I doubt he could on his own.
Case in point....Bhop. The donkey's name is Kiki.
On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney? Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.
interesting. When mama *supposedly* says you are no longer being considered, that seems very hard to overcome. But mentioning SMU first means something psycologically at least. I just hope we don't wait for the guy if we don't have a real chance at him.
Honestly, I think its obvious we are a backup plan if Mike Davis gets fired at IU. Why else would he wait until the spring to sign? He is seeing what happens with Davis who was under great pressure this year and seeing what shakes out position wise at Kansas because they were loaded with wings. Micah Downs transferred last week by the way. He knows what he gets at SMU, Tubbs is not under any fire and Shady plays whatever position he wants from Day 1. Hey, its not at all bad to be a backup plan for a talent like this. As long as we dont miss out on a player because of it. Tubbs knows how to play this game, so I'm not worried. If the stars line up perfectly, we may just end up with him, but I'd say we need IU to flame out down the stretch.
yesterday wasn't a bad start - Indiana got thrashed by Minnesota, 61-42.
What station was this interview on? And when asked about recruiting, wouldn't you mention your favorite school first??? If he twice mentioned SMU first, that might mean something.......but probably not. I still think we are a long shot.
I hope he comes here, but even if he does, you still have two guys on the court that are very streaky and can't seem to be relied on to win games for his, a third guy who is a good point, but isn't the guy who can be counted on to be our main offensive threat. Arthur comes here, he is our leading scorer, and he replaces Bhop, arguably he will be much better, but unless we can get someone else soon that can score and take pressure off of our go to guy (basically end up with two go to guys) we will not be good enough to get to the tournament over Memphis. My two cents.

Let's say on signing day we go ahead and use up our scholarships. That doesn't mean we can't pull one before August 1 to make room for him, if he decides to commit. (I can think of some candidates). Its ruthless and very UT like, and kind of out of our character, but if you're going to make the big time, you can't be too nice anymore.
Stampede,
Not questioning you, but where did you see this interview? I haven't found anyone else who saw it?? It is very odd that the second highest rated recruit in the country yet to commit would mention his hometown school twice in a TV interview only days after supposedly eliminating them, and no one is reporting it. Very strange.
I believe it was Channel 8 (ABC affiliate)
The show was High School Sports Extra ....had a football recruiting segment, high school basketball and then interview with James Mayes, head coach - SOC, and three players including Shady. Nice piece. SMU...2nd to None
