Did this kid have any potential before his injury?

From the DMN blog:

Pearce's Rush weighs options

Spoke to Richardson Pearce linebacker Rush Hughes on Monday night and he said that his rehab from an ACL injury is going well.

Hughes, who played in only two games last year, said he is leaning toward walking on at SMU. He is also looking at a few Division I-AA schools, but his preference is to play for the Mustangs.

He is now listed as #97 on the current Rivals top 100 area list.

I thought he was a defensive end. But how can you not like a guy at either defensive end or linebacker named "Rush"?
