Rivals Question

I will start by stating up front. This is not a debate of whether rivals is a good source of recruiting info or not.

It makes sense that classes with a greater amount of players will get rated higher in total points bc they have more players who could potentially turn in to good football players. My question is how exactly do they figure total points? We have 16 recruits, 2 of which are 3 star players, for a total of 58 points. Memphis on the other hand has 17 players, 2 of which are 3 stars, for a total of 155 points!!!! I cannot be convinced that our class should be rated at nearly 1/3 of their class based on these numbers. If our class was ranked the same as Memphis's (which to me, based on the rivals star ratings and total number of players, it seems like we should be) we would be tied for 6th in CUSA out of the 12 teams in our conference. Also, Rice has 18 recruits, 1 of which rated at 3 stars, yet has 108 total points compared to our 58 points. What gives??? Someone please explain this for me. Thanks.
