Positive spin on new recruits

I just had an opportunity to watch the highlight film of the new recruits. One good thing I did notice that most of them, especially the JC guys will not be underwhelmed with the small turnout at our games. I actually believe that with the exception of ECU we outdrew most of their games when you could see the stands. (HP excluded of course)

My senior year ('03 grad), I remember people making fun of me for actually going to the games.

We need someone to change that. (Brad Thomas, Brad Thomas type, or Brad Thomas clone)

Give us a winner and the students/casual fans will start showing up again. I will bet right now that attendance is higher next year provided we don't go out and lose both at TT and UNT. The campus is getting excited about the prospect that we might have a winner next year.

True! Coach Bennett and his grand vision for the program will turn everything around - including the attendance!

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the SMU ticket office needed to start figuring out how to manage a standing room only section within the next five years.

Alright not seeing the standing room only being a problem anytime soon...but can you imagine actually seeing Ford sold out and over half being fans of SMU.

What a sight that would be!

What in the history of SMU makes you think that if we have a winner the fans will suddenly come out in droves? It took a marketing push, not a winning team to get people to come to our games, or did you not read the article about mustang mania and the drop in attendance as we ended that program and started to contend for national titles.

SMU fans actually will fill Ford Stadium for anything resembling a winner. But we'll NEVER bring 70K -- and didn't even fill half of Texas Stadium back in the roaring 80's. I think some on this board are WAY too [deleted] fans. They're actually good, solid fans by and large. With the very real potential for a winning team, the Boulevard, and the college football Mecca that is Ford Stadium, I like the cards we've been dealt at my old alma mater.

God who needs 70k our stadium only holds half that. You can sell a program whose stadium is jammed every week with 30k in it, infact I think Ford could be pretty nasty with 30k worth of screaming fans.
