He's a world-class quarter-miler, but his first love is football. We were sorry that he couldn't be here last year, but we are glad that he still wants to be a Baylor Bear and we look forward to getting him on the field in 2006." YOU WANT THE TRUTH? YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!
The bio has one small error, he didn't sign with BU in 2004...it was 2005. He was rated a 4-star by Rivals last year, but since he sat out the year because of a problem with his HS transcript, Rivals re-classified him as just a 3-star for this year.
The rumor was that Gettis' test score was good enough but he was given some bad advice by a counselor at his HS which led to him taking two core courses that the NCAA ruled were too similar to each other. Thus, they disallowed one of the courses, leaving him short on his core.
He appealed the ruling but got nowhere with that. So he is taking a course this spring that should get him eligible.
Yeah. They have got to learn that underwater basket weaving and seaside basket weaving will always count as one if taken together.
Glad you asked QB Kris Heavner a Division 1A Transfer from the University of Arizona and originally a top Texas recruit. You guys need to read the papers a little more especially if you are going to take shots at me about topics which you show you do not pay attention to.
Not sure I understand the comment about Gettis being that big of a problem academically....he made a passing test score and his core GPA was fine. The problem is that he attended a private HS for one year. His counselor at the HS where he graduated assured him he had enough core credits. The NCAA disagreed, saying that a course he took at the private school and another he took at Dorsey HS were too similar, thus they disallowed one leaving him one class short of the required credits.
His family disagreed and they tried to appeal. The appeal was denied, so now he is taking the necessary course to qualify. As for who will throw him the ball, Sr. Shawn Bell and RS Fr. Blake Szymanski will likely be the top two QBs.
We'll see. Heavner started as a Freshman and Sopmore at Arizona and proven even as a young player that he has potential to play at this level He was 205 for 380 and over 2200 yards. I'd really forgotten that Shawn Bell was coming back.
My comment was more pointed towards the guidance counselor rather than the young man. You would think those in charge of those things would at least know the core courses.
Sorry for the misunderstanding, mrydel, I was referring to Pony Fan's comment, not yours.
Stallion, you've really got to read the papers more closely ![]()
