Apparently the first of many will be held at Ford this weekend.

Hopefully Bennett can impress some recruits to start thinking about SMU early

This is a chance for us to impress some big name guys, we need to put our best foot forward. If we can get in early on some big players it may help us in signing them or getting or name around to other players. We are a postseason team now or at least we have the potential to be, but if we sign some bigger name guys we can even be a better team. To keep advancing we need to take advantage of things like this.

THIS weekend? Damn, talk about no rest for the weary!
Hope the coaches have enough gas in the tanks to really get their messages across, about what a great school we have, the campus, the city of Dallas, etc. (They should, considering how much they've been practicing that message in recent weeks....)

Somehow the idea that rivals gets the keys to the most beautiful stadium in Texas just creeps me out a little. But .... if it gets stud players on campus, that's a good start. Hope every stud player in Texas will be there, and a bunch from Oklahoma and Arkansas and Louisiana, too.

Why should it bother you that Rivals is putting this on at Ford? This is an amazing opportunity to sell the program and facilities to the upper echlon of recruits in the state of Texas. We need every chance we can get to show the facilities to the recruits.

you guys do know that all the college coaches badmouthing Rivals are subscribers to their service-don't you.

I think it is safe to assume that coaches use what ever necessary to get information on the kids and their thought process. Problem is when people trust Rivals more than their own coach

Which coaches told you that?

I expect you're right, that many coaches are subscribers. I know for a fact that not all are, because I know some college coaches who aren't, either because they're convinced rivals is useless or they plead computer ignorance or they don't have time to read it or they're cheap or .... whatever the reason. But just because any coach has a subscription doesn't mean anything about his opinion about rivals or scout or any other service out there. All it means is that they're trying to read every available bit of information that's out there, just in case there's something they don't already know. Most coaches -- even those at a school that's not actively recruiting a kid -- know more about countless players than rivals ever will/could know.

Besides, even if they didn't subscribe, I'm sure coaches at every school in the country have fans who say "look what rivals said about this kid you're recruiting." So yes, I'm sure some coaches read some rivals story. That's not a dismissal of the recruiting networks, nor is it an endorsement. It's merely a coach doing his job and being as thorough as possible.

"No athletics department staff memeber may be employed (either on a salaried or a volunteer basis) in any capacity by a camp or clinic established, sponsored or conducted by an individual or organization that provides recruiting or scouting services concerning prospects."

i am guessing they can not be present, not sure, rule does not say anything about observation.

Has any prospects who were there said anything about SMU or shown any interest.

Rivals reported that more than 300 players showed up, and there's a nice shot of them in the club suite at Ford Stadium. Include among the players who showed up: 6-foot-8 offensive lineman Terrael Williams from Dallas (Texas) Skyline weighed in at over 400 pounds.
Williams also claims early offers from Kansas State and Oklahoma.
