Nathan [deleted] - QB
Allen High School
6'3'' 194lbs
4.8 forty

From Rivals 2/16/06:
Considering his brother just two years ago went through the recruiting process before signing with the University of Arkansas, Allen, Texas quarterback Nathan [deleted] knows that there will be a lot of people waiting to see if he will do the same.

Nathan [deleted] has recovered from his junior year injury well and is working out at full strength. His brother, Casey [deleted], was one of the first role models for the younger brother both on the field and off. As a sophomore, the older brother was the starter and helped teach the younger Nathan on how to go about the recruiting process.

"It was nice to have him there," [deleted] said about his older brother Casey. "We'd always help each other out with the different defenses. He taught me a lot that year. Plus, he just told me to do my best on the field and recruiting would take care of itself."

While the advice still rings loud in his head, [deleted] is already having quite the haul of mail just like his brother did before making an early commitment.

He even is going to take a visit to his brother's school first.

"I get a lot of letters and stuff," [deleted] said. "I'm actually going to Arkansas this weekend and then the next weekend I'm going to SMU. After that, I'm going to visit Oklahoma State and Texas A&M for as many visits or junior days that I can make."

[deleted] says he's still waiting on his first offer. His injury during his junior year where he broke his tibia bone on the first play of the game against Plano definitely seemed like it would set him back.

However, his team made it to the playoffs where [deleted] says he did well in two games before losing out.

"We were just hoping to get back in there," he said. "Our backup quarterback led us there and I got a chance to come back to prove to people. I ended up playing really well in those two games."

As for recruiting, that is definitely heating back up and his injury obviously hasn't done much to slow that down.

"I made honorable mention all-district so that was exciting for me," he said. "They haven't forgot about me at all. I'm just looking at all the schools to see which ones are interested in me. I just play football and then I'll see what happens from there."

The off-season has been productive for Allen as well. He says he's back to 100 percent from his injury and is doing track while also sharing time with off-season football workouts.

I saw Nathan play some at Ford when his brother was injured a few ears back. Seemed pretty good for a sophmore. Of course since he doesnt have any offers yet we shouldnt be the first. He might committ and then if no one offered he would be a bad recruit. We should wait until he gets offers and then we should offer, then we could sign a guy with other offers and hes automatically better.

If coaches evaluate his talent and determine he can play, offer him. If not, or if they're not sure, don't. If he turns out to be a stud and we wait until he's had a slew of other offers, we might be out of the running before we get started.

It's always nice to have a spare [deleted] in case your primary one gets injured.

No thank goodness, but I can only imagine. I mean it helped that guy's coach for sure.

[deleted] will be highly recruited. Not saying we can't get him, but there will be a number of BCS schools wanting his signature.

We have a legit shot at this kid, he is very talented and I think he is seriously looking at SMU. He knows that if he comes here he can play right away, he would get to throw to Burley, our great tight ends, he knows he has DeMyron back there to run and dish off to and block. He has a lot to look forward to at SMU, the program is heading uphill and he could definitely help us get there!

I have seem him play and I have commented that as a sophomore he already had a better arm than his brother. This kid is good. Allen was just okay last year and he still made them good enough to make the playoffs. He just had the misfortune of having to play SLC once again. Allen should be the class of their district. Plano loses it senior team, and Allen gets all of their talented juniors like [deleted] back. Don't be surpised that he does not become the hottest QB prospect in the Dallas area after everyone realizes the talent he has, looks at where he is at in comparison to his brother when they were both seniors, and then figure out that his brother was good enough to start for Arkansas last year and play well. We would be blessed to get him and Charlie O(running back) from Allen next year.

He had a good visit to Arkansas. Article here mentions several BCS schools of interest and no mention of SMU at all.

Why in the world would he go to Arkansas with them just signing Mustain?

That is a great point, he wouldn't see the field for a while 2 or 3 years at least, and 2 or 3 years would be if Mustain went early into the NFL, which I don't think he will. I think Mustain will stay around for 4 years.
