Slim and Mike Davis

I saw this on SI.com. Could Slim hold out until Mike Davis finds another job?
Keep an eye on how Mike Davis' resignation affects the recruitment of Darrell Arthur, a 6-8 power forward from Dallas. Arthur was considering IU (as well as Kansas and Texas) before Davis resigned. Now I'm hearing he might follow Davis into his next job. That would mean potentially a package deal with Davis, D.J. White and Robert Vaden. And don't tell me White and Vaden won't happen because it would cost Davis $40,000 as per his exit agreement with IU. Forty large is a small price to pay for a big-time job.

For the right price he could.

highly doubtful we could come up with the right price, highly likely that someone else more attractive, ie BCS, offers at the right price, highly questionable whether he would come here anyway even for big money. Forget it, its silly and counterproductive. Build a facility and maybe you could start to attract a guy like Davis on the rebound, until then we're not even in the game.

First of all, I don't know that his price will be that high. He went right to the national title game before losing to Maryland, and then has gone downhill ever since. That, coupled with the fact that NOBODY could fill the void left by Coach Knight, and the fact that he openly campaigned for other jobs after his Final Four run, has many viewing implying that he won't be a hot commodity.
And I agree about building a practice facility (and giving Moody a facelift). We don't have a coaching vacancy.

BCS doesn't mean as much for hoops, except perhaps more disposable income to pay the coach.

His price will be high, you dont think he will use DJ White, Robert Vaden and Darrell Arthur for leverage? He doesnt just want a job, he wants big time vindication on a national stage. That aint SMU.
And JT, I agree the BCS moniker means nothing in basketball, but it does it is basically synomyous with the six widely accepted "power" conferences and big time money. That all I meant. I could see Davis easily ending up at an Auburn or Missouri or Tennessee type school. He will certainly not be in the running for an elite job like Indiana again, but there arent any open anyway.

Rivals reported about a week ago that Arthur has reopened his recruitment including at least 5 new top National programs including UT.

I am sure he will go to UT, they have all the best players. They also have one of the greatest teams in America, with the best fans packed inside the best arena!

Does UT have any scholarships left or will they force someone to look for greener pastures elsewhere?

How dare you suggest such a thing! UT coaches would be tv evangelist, if they weren't coaching these fine young choir boys!

OK name one academically questionable or morally unacceptable recruit in the last 7 years under Mack Brown who actually enrolled at UT-there are none-because the few who did have problems had their scholarships yanked before they got there. The profile of the UT recruit is much the same as the SMU recruit-except they don't have JUCOs (because they don't need them) and they are better football players.
You may not like it but when you come on here and question the character of a bunch of 18 year old without any evidence whatsoever you are the one with questionable ethics.

Wow, when I read the beginnng of this sentence I thought you were still drunk from last night. If by "better football players" you mean UT recruits top tier BCS-type talent, while SMU recruits second and third tier (ie, non-BCS-type) recruits, then we are in agreement. But that will never change.
