2007 Football Recruit Tyler Crane

Postby Ponymon » Fri Mar 10, 2006 9:33 am

Rival's article indicates that Tyler is interested in SMU along with Iowa, Iowa State, Arkansas, Kansas, Texas A$M, Vanderbilt, and TCU. He especially is interested in Arkansas. Rivals appears to be unclear on his size. The article says that he is a 6'3 212 pound DE with 4.6 speed. His bio says that he is 6'2. However, he earned first team all 8-5A honors last year for Allen. He is a three year starter that boasts a bench press of 255 pounds and he squats 500 pounds and he has a 38 inch vertical leap which highlights his athleticism.

He plans to camp at Arkansas, Texas A&M and SMU. He wants to take some visits before deciding so it is unlikely to make a college decision early.

Allen is another school that seems to generate significant talent (see our man DeMyron Martin). If this guy's any good, shouldn't DeMyron be in charge of recruiting him and the QB? An Allen-to-SMU pipeline would be a great thing.
First Tom Huemiller, then DeMyron Martin ....

I don't know anything about this kid at Allen, and I don't mean to dismiss his ability or potential. However, as a point of comparison, Patrick Handy ran almost that fast (4.7) at the recent offseason testing .... and weighed in at over 270 pounds. And he's only going to be a sophomore this year!

Handy is over 270 now? Is he hanging out with Bobby Chase or something?

Gawd, that is a rather large stretch. Sorry Tom but it only took DeMyron 20 minutes into his 1st game to make you an Allen to SMU has been. :-)

As for the Allen to Arkansas pipeline, I would love to cut that off. Why SMU is not buying billboard space across from Allen High School and renting office space in the football office is beyond me. Can't we get our coaches red and blue Ford Mustang's that scream SMU all over them to recruit the Metroplex. See if they can sell them to the local alums as well to raise the awareness of SMU. I would buy one and willingly park my car in front of Nathan [deleted]'s house and anyone else from A-town that shows any D-1 football potential.

Interesting ideas. Not sure why our coaches would need offices up there, but I agree -- anything that just screams "SMU IS HERE!" Your idea of the red and blue Mustangs sounds a little unusual, and I assume parking it in front of ND's house is a violation of .... something, but I like the thought process behind the ideas: make it so absolutely nobody can ignore us. Like SMU or hate SMU, let's make damn sure everyone knows about SMU, huh?

As long as hes not giving him a ride in the car, ort giving him the car, he can park his car whereever he damn well pleases. He is no way is trying to intice him to SMU, he just thought the area would be a nice place to park his car, which happens to be SMU related.
