TCU Outrecruits BCS(Again)

some schools make excuses-some schools get it done. TCU got its third commitment from Brenham CB Shawn Sullivan(5-11, 180 4.4) over offers from Wisconsin, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma St., Colorado and New Mexico St.

...and just how do you suppose they're doing that? Seriously. If you're a TCU recruiter, what are you saying to these recruits to persuade them to come to Cowtown and TCU instead of those other schools?

One note: I'm sure it's interesting when the conversation rolls around to the Frogs' ONLY LOSS last year to S.M.U.!!! I will savor that day as long as I live!

you never know the determinants of a recruit. Did the kid really get offers from Nebraska, OSU, etc? Did the fact that Nebraska is a northern Big XII school play into the decision with limited appearances near home? Did the kid want to go to a private school? Did he wantto stay close to the family? Maybe he's enamored with the attention he's gotten from the Frogs (being a big fish in a smaller pond than at Okie State/Nebraska/Wisconsin)....Maybe he doesn't like the cold. Perhaps playing time is easier at TCU than elsewhere.... Maybe he's got friends at TCU. Maybe he's got a family tie or some family friend is a big TCU booster.Maybe he's excited ove TCU's recent run......Maybe Purple is his favorite color or his grandmom lives in Ft Worth......

The mind of an 18 year old is hard to decipher sometimes.....it makes it even more ironic that the decisions of high school kids can influence the emotions of adults sooo much.....

Very true. He listed a lot of factors in his decision including family recommendations and proximity to home. And yes, he really does have the offers from all of the schools listed as do a couple of his teammates at Brenham who look to be on the verge of committing to the Frogs as well.

Best of luck to the Ponies next year, I would love it if we both could beat Tech!

Congratulations to stallion's favorite team.

they are my second favorite team because they prove everything the Cheerleaders say on this board is nothing but an excuse. They prove that a small private school in a large metro area dominated by Pro Sports including America's Team can compete-no excell based upon a Model that allows it to compete on an even playing field with its natural and traditional rivals.

The only reason a Mustang is allowed to list TCU as a "second-favorite team" is if that Mustang married a Frog, and even then, some psychoanalytical testing is in order.

The kid gets seven offers, and only one is from a school in Texas. Maybe he just wanted to be close enough to home that his family can watch him play. Yawn.

Oh, I know. Which is why I really hope Doherty or Evans or whomever the new bball guy is makes a trip over to cowtown to meet with Neil Daugherty. /sarcasm off

So to the bitchers on this board, does Stallion's dissertation printed above apply only to football?

Why does Southern Miss suck at bball? Why does Tulane suck at bball? Why does E. Carolina suck at bball? Why does TCU suck at bball? Where have the mighty Houston Cougars been since Guy Lewis left? Must be their respective 'models' and excuses made by their cheerleader fans, no?

Come on guys, ol' stallion just likes being smarter than everyone else. Just ask him, he has all of the answers, when actually he knows only what he reads on something like Rivals. I don't know what will happen if, and I did say IF, we ever start consistently winning. My guess is he will sign in under another name and act like he has been a fan all of his life. I think the name for people like him is a "frontrunner". He goes with the winners. I just wish he would spend his time on the "winners" board.

TCU did not prove that. First of all, they live in Fort Worth, where there are no other sports options (and contrary to what some say, not everyone wants to drive 45 minutes to see the Mavericks, etc.) Besides, if anyone "proved" it can be done, start with Miami and USC, not Froggy High.

21-10.

If Stallion is still reading this thread: I asked a question up above in all seriousness and you have not yet responded. I would really like to read your response.

Calallen's passing game tore him up last year in the state semifinals to the tune of 4 Bucky Bryant receiving touchdowns (who Sullivan was matched up with), and Calallen's hallmark is their running game. Sullivan is vastly overrated. He probably realized he would not see much playing time at Wisconsin, Nebraska, etc.
