ARTHUR TO KANSASPER DMN>>>
Discuss | Subscribe | Archives SOC's Arthur picks Kansas 12:41 PM CDT on Tuesday, May 9, 2006 By KATE HAIROPOULOS / The Dallas Morning News Darrell Arthur's long, eventful recruitment is finally over. The South Oak Cliff star said Tuesday that he will play college basketball at Kansas. Arthur, who had narrowed his list to Kansas, Baylor and LSU, made the long-awaited announcement at his grandparents' home in Oak Cliff. Arthur, a 6-9 McDonald's All-American and SportsDay's player of the year, had planned to make his decision public Monday afternoon at the Moorland YMCA, but the news conference was canceled. Arthur's announcement ends an exhaustive recruitment. Ranked No. 16 nationally by Rivals.com, he was one of the nation's top remaining uncommitted recruits. Most elite seniors signed national letters of intent in November. During his recruitment, Arthur took official visits to Baylor, Kansas, Indiana, North Carolina and SMU. Illinois, Oklahoma, Arizona and Texas were all in the picture during the process. LSU made a late push during its Final Four run to join the group of finalists. Arthur took an unofficial visit to LSU in late April but returned uncommitted. Arthur relied on his mother, Sandra, his grandparents, his summer league coach, Jazzy Hartwell, and SOC coach James Mays II during the process. Arthur led SOC to back-to-back Class 4A state titles in March. He's a smooth, agile forward who can play above the rim and run the floor. He played his best in big games, which he dominated for stretches. E-mail [email protected]
I heard he just made the announcement, but has not signed yet, do you think we still have a shot??
funny. I dont know if Doherty has any chance of getting his foot in the door at some point but our best shot all along probably has been for him to go away to Kansas and struggle for early playing time for whatever reason, then transfer to SMU because of being prevented from transferring to a Big 12 school. See, we can still keep talking about the kid until the day he turns pro. ![]()
Maybe his aura will win games for us
Sir, shooting-star, sir.

It amazes me how people get so agitated by a post or thread that is unrelated to SMU. This thread is titled Arthur.....you know that, so don’t read it. BTW, if you take away the posts about Arthur, we haven’t had a post about a football or basketball (SMU) recruit in five days......very sad. I seriously doubt there‘s another division 1-A school in the country with less interest in recruiting. But forgive us, Terry. We will quit posting about Arthur and let the board get back to discussing the very interesting topic of SMU recruiting.
yea, I like the subject the other day where two guys were debating the proper start of summer vacation on here. God forbid we discuss Arthur or even the tubbs affair which is a whopping 5 weeks old, yet everybody wants to sweep it under the rug and call it old news. We dont even know what the supposed violations are yet. Maybe we can talk about something really revelant like what kind of Starbucks coffee MD drinks. Somebody shoot me, I'm sure there are plenty that would like to.
I wasnt talking about you JT and I was being light about it. I dont really want anybody to shoot me either. hey, I'm not one to care what people post about at all. I just think its ironically funny when some people dont want to hear about Arthur because they have such better things to talk about smu wise. Like LA said, there aint much news being posted over here.
