...6-5, 244 4.87 34.5 Vertical, 20 Bench, 4.59 Shuttle all verified. There really has not been much on this kid by the services but his recruiting appears to be really intensifying as he now has offers from SMU, Tech, Utah, UTEP and Tulsa and interest from many others. Still no story on Rivals but that should change. Prototype redshirt with athletic ability who could blossom after a year or two in the weightroom. Again Coaches generally prefer a kid like this than a big ole sack of fat whose big but has little athletic ability. Actually tested with the DEs at the Rivals camp which generally has much better athletes but he held his own in all events generally finishing 6th in the 40, 12th in the Shuttle and 16th in the Bench out of about 30 players-but its his Vertical Leap that really shows his athleticism-he tested at 34.5 which was first among all DEs. 34.5 is off the board for a LM. Guess that could be a real weapon as a pass blocking DE even if he stays at DE but I bet he grows into a Lineman. Excellent student with 3.8 GPA and 1970 SAT and 30 ACT. Looks like a pretty darn good prospect that you won't see in the Top 100. as long as he works hard in the weightroom to improve his strength.

So, based on your Rivals comment, I assume we have no idea about which direction he may be leaning.

there's no story on him-just his Rivals camp numbers and a list of offers and schools of interest-but the fact he's got 5 decent offers in June plus his size and performance at camp shows he is a very nice prospect.

OK I had a feeling that a story would be coming down the pike. Neill visited both SMU and then Tech last week and was offered by both. The Tech Rivals report called him "Undoubtedly the best put together athlete of the day" at Tech's recent Senior camp. Reportedly now up to 6-5, 250 and ran a 5.0-which he was disappoited in and explained it was because he still a little sore from the SMU camp the previous day. He is very interested in SMU -even after the Tech offer-although he was ecstatic with the Tech offer. He had several glowing reports about several visits to SMU and his relationship with the SMU coaching staff and the defensive coaches especially Joe Sawyer. The Tech Rivals report listed him as a DE-DLM so maybe he really might stay on the defensive line. Looks like his heart was set on SMU-reading between the lines-but the Tech offer has given him a lot to think about it. Tech coaches appear to love this guy as he was introduced to the entire coaching staff on his visit. Right now it looks like it will come down to SMU and Tech with Kansas also mentioned. Plans to visit Kansas for their Senior Camp in coming weeks. Have a feeling other teams might get involved too based on his size and mobility. This is probably one of SMU's top targets right now based on the comments he made concerning the SMU staff. Would like to make his decision by the end of the summer.

A 5.0 forty at only 250 pounds is a little scary, sore or not. But he definately sounds like a kid who will need at least 2 years in the weight room before hes ready.

1970 is still a great score. Average 657 of all 3 tests!

new David Neill report. He did indeed attend the Kansas camp and earned a scholarship offer from the Jayhawks who quickly jumped into his Top 3 of Kansas, SMU and Tech. In the report he said most are recruiting him as a DLM although some have mentioned the possibility of OLM. I hadn't noticed before the other day that he made the Texas Football Third Team All Defense.

The more I read about this guy, the more I like him.
I gather we (SMU) really like him and that Zac Scotten kid .... a lot.

So you could have 6-5 and 6-6 guys in the middle? Not bad. At least they could knock down a few more passes (after they add 50 pounds each, of course).

New story on the Tech Rivals' network on Neil confirms that he has decided on a Top 3 of SMU, Tech and Kansas. He put off invitations to rate one above the other. He commented that he would like to play the Interior Defensive Line but might move outside to DE. They got a picture of Neil in the report and this kid has a great frame and could easily put on another 30-40 pounds in college. As Ron Meyer said he passes the eye test getting off the bus(hope that didn't sound too gay-not that there is anything wrong with that). He appears to be a tremendous lineman prospect-i'm floored schools across the country aren't iall over this guy..
