Those are not DT numbers to me. Looks like a DE in my book.

Give him another 40 pounds and put him in the middle. I bet Coach Faucette can do it.

Go Mustangs.

Stats-wise, this guy sounds a lot like Domenic Pryor. If he's built the same way, Sawyer likes the long-armed athletic type at DT in addition to the classic pocket collapser. I guess the theory is that if they can get their hands up, they're hard to see over and throw around. Also, even if they're a bit out of position, if they can reach out and get a hand on a QB or RB, often that's enough to slow them down for a LB to finish them off.

Saw a picture of the guy. He looks like he could double in size with a lot of eating and lifting.

Well .... "Bench max: 270 pounds"

And to be fair, Adrian Haywood didn't bench much more than that when he arrived at SMU, and he had a pretty solid season.

The 270lbs. Bench Press needs improvemrnt but the 4.9 40 yard is quick for the DL. Redshirt him and have him live in the weight room and put on alittle weight without loosing the quickness and he might be starting the next year.

Keep it in perspective guys. A 270 lb. bench is huge for a high school junior. He has another year in the weight room before he suits out as a Mustang. He should easily be 300+ by then.

And davidsmu94, I seriously doubt Larry Allen could put up 270 in 7th grade...

Hopefully he'll have TWO years, if he comes to SMU and redshirts for a year. If so, he'll be starting out his playing days with a bench of what .... 350? I'll take that as a starting point. It wasn't that long ago that we didn't have anyone who could bench that when they graduated, much less when they began playing for us.

sign athletic big men not fat tubs of lard. You can always build lineman up in the weightroom.

Amen.
That's why so many "skinny" linemen get signed, sometimes as tight ends (i.e. Robert Gallery, Warren Sapp, etc.)

Yeah, I'll admit that I was an unusual case, but still the point is the guy is way too weak. By the way I was referring too the 245 number... 270 came about mid way through the 8th grade
sign athletic big men not fat tubs of lard. You can always build lineman up in the weightroom.
They have GOT to be quick to offer. Hey, is it true that starting DT Adrian Haywood has run a 4.7 Forty ?
