Based on player/recruits ratings of Division 1A Football in all aspects of a student/athlete's life. Coach Bennett rates relatively high for a coach with a short head coaching resume. Top 3 Kirk Frentz, Mack Brown and Jim Tressell. Mack probably would have run away with it if he didn'rt score so low on running players off-which they do.

High number of responses and a relatively decent showing for Bennett.

Wasn't Mackovic (4.9) an SMU consideration back in the Dave Smith era?

Check out Stan Heath at Arkansas. Wow.
Also Keith Richard of La Tech is very low. Guess he is spending too much time on tour with the Stones.

Yeah, he turned down the job.
Maybe he pulled a "withdrawing my name from consideration," but it never was offered to him.

Bob Stoops 7.8 who is 6 wins-2 loses against Mack Brown 9.5 ??? How about Mack Brown 7.5 and Vince Young and the defensive coordinator 10.

over the weekend saw a report that reminded that Mack Brown is the winningest coach in the country over I think it was the last 8 years. The Mack Brown bashing is really getting old. He hasn't had a team that didn't win 10 games since something like 1998.

I think we have won 10 games since 1998.

This Lombardi clone has one CONFERENCE title in his entire career. He's a brilliant recruiter, but to suggest he's a great coach with the talent he's had over the years is silly.
Recruiting: A+
Coaching: C

LOTUS, You are correct about A+ recruiter and C coach. Face it Texas year in and year out has the best talent in the NCAA, yet they have only one championship under Brown. Two years ago Brown hired a great defensive coordinator from Auburn. Then Vince Young grew up and basically won the national title for Texas along with great defensive play. No mater what you or I think now, the KEY for Brown to prove he is a great Coach is to win the Big 12 South this year against a better Oklahoma team. With the slow Freshman QB's they have this year and no Young or Taylor it would prove Brown is a great Coach. Sorry, it is not going to happen.

Recruiting is Coaching Genius. Coaching is about getting the best players. The best recruiters win the most games. 56-8 over the last 5 years. Winingest Coach in the Country. Once he was at a university capable of winning the National Championship he did it within 5 years of getting his own recruited class on the field. That's all that matters.
