Denton Ryan has been producing standout football players for quite awhile. This year is no different as the team is getting ready to make a run for the state title. BearsIllustrated.com had the chance to talk with one of the talented defensive linemen to see what he had to say about Baylor and his future plans. Read more inside.

Ben Goldthorpe is a 6-2 227 pound defensive end from Denton, Texas (Ryan High School). He had the chance to mix it up with the best in Texas at the Scout.com combine held on the campus of Baylor University.

"I had the chance to go against Tray Allen. He is a real good athlete. He has real good feet. He is good, and we went head to head."

Although Goldthorpe holds no offers, he is hearing the most from Texas Tech, SMU, Oklahoma State, and Baylor. Making the trip to Waco for the Scout.com combine left an impression with the skilled pass-rusher.

"It was awesome. I like the coaching staff, and they know what they are talking about, obviously. Baylor is on the rise."

Goldthorpe lists Texas Tech, SMU, and Oklahoma State as his top 3 right now and has enjoyed the recruiting process so far.

"I love it. You get to see who is interested in you. You find out where you stand. It's been great."

As Goldthorpe prepares for the upcoming season, he has a few goals in mind.

"My goal for the team is to win a state championship. I want to be All-District again, and All-State. I want to be the defensive player of the year."

Goldthorpe is quick off the ball and has the ability to find the ball carrier and bring him down. Goldthorpe explains that he would compare himself to former Oklahoma Sooner Dan Cody.

The offers will no doubt start rolling in for Ben Goldthorpe and BearsIllustrated.com will keep you on top of all the action.

If he runs fast I see him as a LB, if he can put on 30 lb's and was only a little quick - maybe a DE. please not at 22? at DE. I hope we are past that stage.

Please take the time to research the height, weight and speed of the last two Cavan teams and compare to last years and this years team.

Bennett and staff have made good progress.
