Standing 6-2, 235, there is one defensive end that quarterbacks and running backs alike fear as he comes around the end. Check out to see what his plans are, and where he will be playing his college ball.

Jacody Coleman is a monster defensive end who has superior pass rushing skills. Any defensive end will tell you that he enjoys getting to the quarterback, but Coleman backs up his words with his play.

With offers from Baylor, SMU, Iowa State, and Missouri, Coleman is planning to announce his decision at a press conference later this week.

As always, BearsIllustrated.com will be covering it all and have the very latest on Jacody Coleman's announcement.

Would it be jumping the gun to suggest that he would project to OLB at the college level?

Barring a major groth spurt, I'd have to agree.

Remember he is going into his Senior year in highschool. Between this season and a redshirt year he could easily put on another 20 pounds. I don't know anything about the kid but 6'2 255 is a fine size for a DE at the college level. What is Justin Rogers 6'3 250-260? I like the list of schools he is considering- hopefully SMU is still in the picture.

...committed to Baylor. Included recent commitment Justin Johnson from Berkner, Baylor now has 8 Top 100 players.

Between Football and Basketball, I sure wish someone in our front office would spend an afternoon with the Baylor recruiting coordinator and absorb some knowledge. It can not be the campus or the town when comparing to SMU and Dallas. Sure the BCS gives them a leg up, but this is ridiculous to see the distance between the two programs in recruiting.

Are these recruits all Baptist?...could be possible. That would account for their success if nothing else. :?

Then it's a good thing Signing Day isn't in early July.

Only if all the Methodists were coming to SMU.

That would've sent the Detmer brothers to the Hilltop. As it is, at least one of them went elsewhere and converted.

Perhaps we should tread cautiously though...Baptists vs. Methodists vs. Mormons: grounds for getting a thread deleted?

Mrydel,

I wholeheartedly agree with you! I have had to stay overnight in Waco and wondered what is so exciting about the place. Of course, I wonder the same thing every time I go out to Lubbock! I wonder if our tougher academic standards and lack of PE degree makes the difference?

I think that it has a lot to do with the fact Baylor finally decided that it was really in a BCS conference. When a player makes a choice between SMU and Baylor, I believe that is the deciding factor. Academics are about the same. But when talking to a recruit and you can talk about the possibility of post-season, BCS carries with it a distinct advantage. It takes a lot of work to overcome that. TCU has managed to it in football. I would like to think that with Orsini, SMU has taken a big step toward that also.
