FB Recruiting so far

Postby RGV Pony » Thu Jun 29, 2006 9:37 pm

I'm surprised it hasn't been addressed more, but has anyone noticed that of the recruits and early signees so far, we're seeing the 'schools of interest' being the likes of SMU, Tech, Baylor, TCU, Iowa St., Kansas as opposed to SMU, SFA, NW St, Ark St, Ouachita Baptist or Tx St?

Also, it's nice to have three early committments so far. It sounds like we'll have more before the season starts.

Leribeus is a great commit.

Honestly, I'm pretty excited about all of them.
Keep it up, coaches!

The fact that we're in the hunt against bigger, better schools is evidence that high school coaches still respect Coach Bennett and understand that while gradual, he has been building the program the right way, and therefore they are still encouraging their players to come play for him. Keep it up, coaches!

interesting that you guys jump to those conclusions because 3 out of the 4 commitments had no other offers. close only counts in hand-grenades

Leribeus is a good pick up, no doubt about that.

I like this Logan Turner guy...5000+ yards and 53 tds in the past two years is getting the job done no matter how big you are. Also being the district MVP isn't to shabby either. With a little growth spurt (please god) we might be on to something here.

Ganaway is 2A player of the year with some decent numbers. He is a totally unknown commodity when it comes to big time competition so call this 25/75 chance we get something here (50/50 for those who think positive on this board).

Kelly Turner was 1st team all district last year...and umm well that is it about him. I think we might be fishing for a sleeper here but considering the proximity, I am sure the coaches have seen this kid in action plenty.

By my estimation in terms of good recruits I am goign to give us 2.5 out of 4. A full point for Leribeus and Logan and a half point for the other two. Though thinking of docking Leribeus a bit for not steering Justin Johnson to us and away from Baylor

And Rangers baseball (that was CLOSE to a foul ball, and apparently it counted as a foul ball)
