We should seriously be looking into that. Doherty is a smart man, if he has any strong connection with Michael I am sure he will offer and I am sure we will get serious consideration. Alright Doherty lets see your recruiting prowess go to work!

Why not? Just because MJ has money? There are other athletes out there whose parents have money, but they still will accept a scholarship over a "pay your own way" arrangement in most cases. If he can play, offer him.

If his only offer is Loyola Chicago, is this really the caliber of player that Coach D wants to help build the program? The si.com article states that he's not an ACC caliber player.

I think Coach D wants attention for the Program based on what we do on the court, not because we are some basketball carnival side show since we have MJ's kid on our team.

That's, whether or not he can play, is certainly true.

So you know, Loyola was 19-11 last year and lost in its conference semifinal tourney to UW Mil. A perennial tourny team. I would say that SMU and Loyola are similar programs.


J Jordan can play and he is a mid major D1 player. He is not any better that that. He would be a starter at SMU by the end of his career.

I am sure when Coach D was interviewing with Orsini one of his main selling points to Orsini was "I'll make sure SMU basketball is similar to Loyola-Chicago."

And are you telling me the Horizon League is a mid-major conference? No way. They put one team a year in the tournament because they have an automatic spot. Maybe once every four years they get two teams in.
