Defensive end David Neill, from Flower Mound-Marcus (Texas), is holding more than a handful of scholarship offers, and he has kept the road hot hitting the summer camp circuit. Three schools are battling for his signature.

"Right now I have six offers," said David Neill. "My recent offers are from Kansas, Texas Tech and SMU. I have offers from UTEP, Utah and Tulsa as well. I think OSU [Oklahoma State] may be close to offering me."

"My favorites are [Texas] Tech, SMU and Kansas. All are pretty much equal. I don't have an overall favorite. All the schools have something I like. I can't decide which one is the best fit for me."

Neill (6-5, 245-pounds) talks more about his favorites.

Kansas: "I like the coaches there. It's a beautiful city. They have shown a lot of interest in me since the beginning."

Texas Tech: "I know a lot of people in Lubbock. It's the best program, football wise, out of my top three. It's a good school overall.

SMU: "SMU is kinda close to home. The coaches are great. Coach [Joe] Sawyer and all the coaches are great guys. They are good academically as well."

Neill has built a strong relationship with his recruiting coaches from his top three schools.

"Coach [Carlos] Mainord from Texas Tech is a great coach," he said. "I like him a lot. He is cool. I wasn't being recruiting heavily by them until summer started. He called in May, told me to come to camp. When I went there I was offered."

"Coach Sawyer is my recruiting coach at SMU. He has built a really good relationship with my parents, and they really like him. He goes to the same type of church as me, and that is a good thing."

"My recruiting coach at Kansas is coach [Tim] Beck. He is a cool guy. I like him a lot. He told me all the places in Lawrence to go eat."

Neill hit the summer camps at Kansas, Oklahoma State, SMU and Texas Tech. His senior season is fast approaching and time for one more visit. When asked a time-frame for his decision Neill replied, "I kind of want to make my decision before the summer ends. If I have no clue I will take my official visits then decide."

"My decision is really going to depend on how well I fit in the with the program and where I could see myself spending the next four to five years of my life," Neill added as the factors of his decision.

should be plenty of opportunity for early playing time on the DL with Rogers, Haywood, Bonds & Denman all finishing up this year. If that's a consideration, SMU should look pretty good

Wow...

This would be a huge pickup for the Mustangs, seems like a pretty big-time player. Six offers from big name teams, good size, we are usually pretty solid at DL, especially this year, he would be a great guy to come in and fill a position right away.

GO PONIES!!!

Coach at Kansas is a "cool guy?" "Told me all the places to eat in Lawrence?"

Give me a break - how can you be looking at coming to school in Dallas and yet, in the back of your mind, you're plagued by the thought of all the neat diners you will be missing out on in Lawrence, Kansas.

This is the quote that stood out to me: "My favorites are [Texas] Tech, SMU and Kansas. All are pretty much equal. I don't have an overall favorite. All the schools have something I like. I can't decide which one is the best fit for me."

SMU is equal to Texas Tech and Kansas?

I think it is a compliment considering they are both Big XII bowl teams.

I've seen him play. He's a little raw, but when he grows into his frame and gets on a college weight program, this guy is going to be an absolute monster.

Rivals article today indicates that his decision is imminent. Its between SMU, Tech, and Kansas. He is going to sit down with his parents and discuss the pros and cons of each school and then make a decision.

Sounds like a safe bet! Here's hoping the Mustangs play respectably against TT on Sept. 2 and he'll decide the Mustangs need his talents!
