Woodrow CB considering the Ponies
Woodrow Wilson CB Greg "The Real" McCoy said he plans to stop by the SMU campus tomorrow for an unofficial visit.
McCoy, an excellent return man who also stars at receiver for Woodrow, would be a huge steal for the Mustangs. He has offers from Kansas State, Iowa, Baylor, Arizona and others. Schools such as Florida, Oklahoma and Michigan have also expressed interest. But his trip to the Hilltop isn't just a courtesy stop.
"I like SMU," he said. "If you have a degree from SMU, that's a real good thing."

There's a young man who sounds like he has his priorities in order. Here's hoping he grabs his SMU offer soon!

Well we would like "The Real" McCoy as well, he is very talented, he could be a superstar here and the Mustangs are back, he would be a huge addition.

I've read that this guy could play CB or WR, and if his ability at each position is equal (how would I know? Never seen him play....), it's hard to say which side of the ball would need him more. Ponies are very young in the secondary, but we graduate a bunch of WRs next year. I'm thinking we could use him on both sides. Let's get him committed, and maybe that will help with his teammate (Hlavaty).

Two different people confirmed that McCoy was there yesterday. Hopefully he realizes that Dallas is the place he should be!

Here's a Hlavaty update from the same website:
"Here's a leftover question from our recruiting chat that Sam in Dallas wanted a response to about another Woodrow Wilson linebacker:
Have you heard anything about Jack Hlavaty? Last year he was a great compliment to Sergio Kindle and piled up 100-something tackles himself. Yet, I can't seem to find anything on him...
Just talked to Woodrow coach Bobby Estes. He said that Hlavaty has been offered by SMU and that top academic schools like Stanford, Tulane, Holy Cross and California are interested in the 6-4, 225-pound standout who is in the top 10 overall in his class.
The question most recruiters are asking is where to play Hlavaty? He had 147 tackles at linebacker last season and that peaks the interest of Oklahoma State, Kansas and Kansas State. Others schools like TCU see Hlavaty as a defensive end and Horned Frog coaches have told Estes they would offer Hlavaty if he would learn to play with his hand on the ground.
Hlavaty will also play some tight end this year, so there could be some schools that will look at him on offense."

Iowa leads according to Rivals. McCoy did enjoy his recent visit to SMU, however, so you never know.

I just hope he keeps his recruitment open until the fall, because once he sees how well the Mustangs are doing we could get a commit early in the fall part of the season. McCoy could be a BIGTIME player at SMU, and with SMU playing postseason football now, he would be the perfect fit. He would get to play a lot in the spotlight and could make a huge impact on this team, especially with what we are losing after this year at the WR and DB positions.
GO PONIES!!!
