5-10, 167 4.64 40, 27 Vertical(all verified) from DeSoto. SMU is the only school to to offer the 5-10 athlete as a QB. Only other offer Wyoming. Claims interest from Iowa, CSU, Kansas and Iowa St. at positions other than QB.. Soft Verbal says he is not 100% solid. Rated 5.1 by Rivals

Scout has him verified at 5-9.5 157 pounds 4.72 40, 4.72 Short Shuttle, 26.5 Vertical, 7.68 3 Cone 8-0 Broad Jump. Rated a 1 star-no story.

Had over 800 yards rushing and over 575 yards passing as a QB in 2005.

I admit to deference to coaching staff on their picks...I figure wins/losses work that stuff out as to how successful they are. Since I am in no position to control the outcome, I figure b-tching about it does little good.

That said, this one has me concerned, at least based on the verified numbers...for QB...and frankly, he is slow for a corner and lacks size for safety.

I apologize ahead of time to anybody who digs this kid or is reading this board such as his family. I'm just going off what Stallion posted as verified by Scout and Rivals. For a 1-star to be verified in such a fashion, and for the information from source to source being pretty close, I'd think that they did their homework.

This will be a good commitment if we can keep him because it gets us into DeSoto, which is one of the big football schools in the area!

Fair enough.

He's not huge, and he's not burning up the stopwatch, but he's already a two-star. Wouldn't a guy with these numbers normally be considered a one-star, at least before his senior season starts?

Personally, I see a slot receiver waiting to happen.

Welcome to SMU, Terrance!

It is my guess that the design is for him to fit nicely into Josh L's pocket and run down the field.

They are close to the same speed.

Those physical and performance stats and he's a soft verbal??????? Good lord, his parents ought to be camping out in front of Bennett's office waiting for signing day..............

Maybe he's got a younger brother who has the same physical stats and is an 8th grader........

I also did a search for other track meet times for Wilkerson which I also do to check to see if the 40 times are legitimate. The only thing I found was that DeSoto placed 6th in the 400 Meter Relays at a Class 5A Region Track Meet with him running the opening leg. Traditionally, DeSoto has had a very strong Track program with lots of speed so that does say something that he was on the relay team. The lack of individual times suggests he is not placing high individually. You would think he could at least run 4.6 to get a 'ship at last size. Perhaps he didn't train well for the summer camps which is an excuse but in this day and age not a very good one.

SMU: Home of the 5'9" QB....Can we PLEASE recruit AND SIGN a QB who is at least 6'4"???

We don't deserve a 6'4" qb

SMU Home of the Worst Fans Ever

"but we have had to deal with this since the DP...." blah blah blah.

B*tching to the same 6 people on Ponyfans should solve all our problems!

People complained about Rogers size, People complained about Chase's stats at his JC school, people raved about Massey....who knows.

Obviously, this guy is being recruited as an athelete. You bring the guy in, tell him that he will have the opportunity to compete as a QB. Let him spend his redshirt year at QB, competing, then if he is 4th on the depth chart, you talk to him about moving around.

The only difference between us and other schools that offer is that we will allow him to try and compete at QB. Obviously, he has major size issues for that position, so it will be hard for him to stay there.

The schools looking at him are majors, so he must be a good athelete, beyond the times.

Anyone know if he was in our camp?

Makes sense. Problem is, do you really want a 5'10", 167 lb. tight end? (Yes, even more mileage from that corny material.)

I'm sorry but this guys sounds DIV III. Why are we signing small and slow? Please can we take back our offer?

I am just hoping this kid's parents are both 6'5'' and he hasn't hit his spurt.

Again I will defer to the wisdom of the coachs...but it sure would be nice if they didn't make it soo damn hard.
