Anybody heard anything about this monster recently? Seems to be getting some attention per rivals. Would love to pull this kid down here to Ponyland.

Rivals hasn't done an update since June 19th on Charles. I know his father occasionally checks the message board, maybe he will fill us in on the most recent happenings.

Latest info on Charles:

Still very interested in SMU and has been talking to Coach Sawyer weekly. Sawyer indicated that they are waiting to see the tape of the first 2 games of Charles Season (Sept. 22nd). His interest comes down to four things: 1) Academics 2) Location 3) Coaching (Apparently Sawyer has really impressed both Charles and his father.) Infact he has been one of the top DL coachs they have met @ the 37 universities they have been too in the past two years. 4) People/Attitude

Was scheduled to come down to our day camp July 22nd, but instead flew to Hawaii (who wouldn't) for an unofficial with a promise of a full ride. To date Charles has a offer from Hawaii, a confirmation from Washington that they don't have any nose tackles rated higher and high promise from Wyoming, Utah State, Idaho, WSU, NMSU and Temple. He is hoping to make his commitment by the end of his senior season.

Long and short of it, we remain in great position with Charles and would love to see this big ol'beast clogging up the middle for us in the future.

Rivals story dated yesterday confirms Hawaii offer-no real quotes about interest in other schools although the story did list SMU among the other schools previously mentioned. Rated the lowest of 2 stars at 5.0.

What the beast said about Hawaii, from the Rivals story:

The Hawaii offer has definitely made an impression.

"I was very impressed by UH and their football program in general, but even more impressed with the coaches," he said. "You can definitely tell that they're serious about getting the WAC championship and making the Warriors a top national program. After spending two days talking with them, I felt that I would definitely be a perfect fit.

"They're looking for a big, powerful, aggressive, two-gap NT that can hold the line, pull 2-3 man coverage and collapse the pocket play after play, and that's exactly what I do. Overall, I am real glad they offered me, and considering all the plusses to attending UH and playing for the Warriors, I would say that right now they're definitely number one on my list."
