2006 6-11 Post Recruit Josh Crawford

According to Rivals, he enjoyed his visit to SMU last week and is visiting Iowa this week. He acknowledges that he will have to make a quick decision between the two in order to get registered for class. He prepped at Long Beach Wilson High School, where he averaged 16 points and 9 rebounds as a senior and had an impressive summer. He really liked Coach Daugherty a lot. Hopefully, Coach can close the deal!

He'd better hustle -- class begins Thursday, I think.

Dang it. Wish he would have liked Doherty more than that Daugherty coach.

If we can get him away from Steve Alford, that would be phenomenal. Not only are you getting him away the Big 10 (it hurts a little to say that but not much since it's us), you also appear to get a real low post presence that we haven't had here since maybe the mid-1980s. And no. Glenn Puddy doesn't count.

BTW, I saw on our roster, that we would be recruiting for four spots in 2007 with four seniors. Of course, we could encourage people to leave to open up others.

But help me if I missing. Here are our BB commitments:
William Eddie, G, Detroit
Ryan Harp, G, Abilene

Alex Malone 6'8 forward. 3 star on rivals is in our 2007 class as well.

Correct me if I am wrong but it reads to me that Crawford would be in our '06 class, enrolling this semester. And you are right that we have 4 scholies open up after next season, but after this season we had 3 open up and only used 1. If Crawford comes to SMU, we will have used 2, and will still have 5 scholarships total for our '07 class. If we do not sign Crawford, we will have 6 scholarships available for our '07 class.

I have it from a secret spy that Crawford was on campus
yesterday. Haven't heard any results from the visit yet.

Well...If he was here yesterday then it would be safe to say he is a mustang...Doesn't enrollment start today???I can't imagine him still trying to make up his mind one day before school starts...Is that a fair assessment???

Dunno. Maybe. Iowa is also a possibility. They start August 21st. So he could look around yesterday and decide it is too freakin' hot and go up to Iowa this weekend.

And I don't know if he actually has to be enrolled on the first day of class or not for SMU or NCAA rules.

He was scheduled to head to Iowa City yesterday and promised a decision upon his return. Either way, we will find out soon enough about this kid.

Iowa just lost two incoming freshmen recruits to the NCAA clearinghouse, including a 7' Vanderbecken who will now attend JC in Texas for at least a year. Which opens up a spot there temporarily tho Vanderbecken is expected to go back to Iowa once his grades are in order.

With more information, I have changed my stance...He is gone...If he left here for Iowa and they don't start until August 21st, he is gone...Consider it a done deal...Just going to wait for Stallion or someone else type the infamous words of this website, "Signed with X"

Perhaps the Rivals article (mentioned above) is wrong. Something does not quite add up here.

Supposedly visited campus last week.
Seen on campus yesterday? (That would be a 2nd trip)
then headed to Iowa City last night??

If he was on campus yesterday I would take that to mean either he 1) is enrolling or 2) that was his first trip to SMU and he was combining it with the Iowa trip
