I honestly forgot how many Division 1A transfers UH picked up in the last recruiting year-most from BCS schools- but I think it was either 6 or 7. Well they picked up two more big lineman from the SEC this summer-one that I do believe SMU badly wanted. Brian West 6-4,265 DLM from Auburn(beaumont Ozen) was thought to be coming to the Hilltop but instead bolted to UH at the last moment. He was a 3 star rated 5.6 out of High School with offers from Auburn, Florida, Tech, Northwestern, and Tulsa. UH has also got an OLM named Ell Ash a transfer from Tennessee who is a 6-5, 292. and a 3 star out of high school. Both have now been officially added to the UH roster. The Cougars are the Home Town Team-Go to the BCS and then when you get homesick come back to the Home Team. This will make an impact in coming years. Some aren't eligible this year.

I am curious how many if any of these D-1, BCS transfers make a big impact for their new teams. I'm looking for some facts and figures not a snide answer. Without knowing, I would think many do, however our RB from Texas Tech did not. Did we ever have others? Thanks.

the evidence is so overwhelming across the country and specifically in CUSA of the success of teams using this formula that it is really beyond debating. I used to prove this point during every BB loss to Nobody U. Its pervasive and common place at all schools at the Top of the CUSA standings. Pick a school and check it out. Schools on our schedule who are really going after these kids hard include TCU, UTEP, UH and even Tulsa from this part of the country-but it is almost universal at all CUSA championship contender programs.

How can they "go after them"? I thought that recruiting trnsfers was illegal.

SEC Coach to CUSA Coach buddy:

SEC Coach: Hey man, nice Nike camp huh?
CUSA Coach: Yep. How's your WRs gonna be over at Screw U?
SEC Coach: Fantastic. Matter of fact, should be about 6 deep. Which reminds me...we got this kid, runs about a 4.6, but he's deceptively quick. I'm telling him he deserves to be on the field somewhere, maybe just not here at Ol' Screw U. What if I were to steer him your way?
CUSA Coach: You know us privates. He got the grades? If so let me see what I can do.

or...
Big XII freshman: Man, that's some BS. I was told I'd be playing QB, and maybe starting this year. I didn't come to this place to be a DB.
Big XII Coach: Well son, there are three people in front of you who are all a foot taller than you and go to class. Anyway, you're fast and we need you in the secondary. But if QB is where your heart is, and I think you agree maybe that ain't gonna happen here, I could make some calls...I know this guy up in Huntsville...

The Next Year:
CUSA Coach by phone: Hey SEC Coach, how's tricks?
SEC Coach: Not too bad. Heard that kid's ready to play this year. He gonna fit in?
CUSA Coach: Yep. Should start. How's things in your, say, linebacking corps?

And on it goes...
