from Terrell Jackson(Oregon) over the summer. Jackson was the No. 2 All-Purpose back in the Country in 2004 by Rivals and 5.8 4 Star. There are also posts on the internet regarding a Auburn DLM and Arizona St. LB who have transferred to UTEP.

Green w/ envy. That's what I am.
Wish SMU had those kids. I wish that Bennett had all of the coaching expertise (and success) that Price does. I hope that SMU puts up some wins this year and impresses enough folk that we can turn some heads and sign a really good class.

I don't understand what kind of salesman it takes to convince a kid that the Juarez skyline is more pleasant than Dallas, but I suspect it might be the coach and the lack of impediments to coming to UTEP (won't elaborate any more).

There is nothing I can personally do to change the status quo, though, so I will still hope for the best and plan for the worst.

Either way, I wish that SMU had those players. Wow. Good for Coach Price.

That was my favorite game last year.....first time that I could remember SMU beating the sh*t out of someone. It was great, we actually got to cheer for more than 2 touchdowns.

Hope we have some more games like that.

Jackson easily got beat out for the starting job. Nonetheless, I would expect him to be quite good in CUSA.

was VERY overratted in high school. USC and UCLA (both local as he was from the LA area) had zero interest in him and he signed at Oregon and was thrid on the depth chart after two years. He could be a decent college back but was considered to be a lot of sizzle and no steak when he was in high school. That was the opinion of most local recruiting experts in the SoCal area

They're also getting 5 star WR Fred Rouse from Florida State.

I had heard that earlier this year but thought he had backed off of that interest. After checking again I noticed that Scout is confirming that info as of August 24, 2006 so it appears to be true. Scout calls him perhaps the No. 1 offensive player in his class. Big commitment for the Miners.

UTEP also is getting a 6-2, 229 pound LB from Arizona St. named Adam Vincent. Only rated 5.3 out of high school but received two BCS offers from Arizona St. and Washington St.

I believe UTEP is also getting former Auburn 3 star player Neil Brown who had offers from 6 heavyweights out of high school Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, Nebraska and Michigan St.

BTW I fbumped into this Resolution on SMU's transfer policy change on the internet:

Resolution Concerning Transferability of Courses From Disciplines Not Represented At SMU

Whereas, the current practice at Southern Methodist University is not to accept transfer credits in subjects for which there is no equivalent discipline at SMU, and

Whereas, the current practice penalizes potential transfer students who take legitimate academic courses in disciplines not represented at SMU, and

Whereas, our current practice could discourage a student in good standing elsewhere from transferring to SMU, and

Whereas, courses without an academic home at SMU must be evaluated for their transferability, now therefore be it

Resolved that the faculty of Southern Methodist University supports the awarding of transfer credit as free electives for appropriate academic courses successfully completed with the grade of C or better at regionally accredited colleges or universities and for which there is no equivalent discipline at SMU, and be it further

Resolved that decisions regarding the transferability of specific courses for which there is no equivalent discipline at SMU shall be determined by the Faculty Senate in consultation with the appropriate administrators.

[Passed at the February 15, 2006 Faculty Senate Meeting]

If I am reading this right (it is early) this sounds like a good move. Now we need to figured out how to "recruit" the right kids without recruiting.

Yes...

Read the article on scout.com about Rouse. Anyone who has seen him play, knows he can play, he even played a little bit on FSU's team last year as a freshman, he could and probably will be a STAR at UTEP, the Conference USA is getting better by the day.

GO PONIES!!!

He's just going to make it even more impressive when Lindley gets 4 interceptions in El Paso this year.

Price sure has a staff that can recruit. I am shocked they got Rouse, he made some big special teams plays last year. I was thinking he would wind up at another BCS school.

We need Price or Patterson to take the A&M job this offseason.
