The glee you seem to find in posts and titles like this is shameful.

67, we werent really recruiting him, because he had no interest in us. He's a player we, or any other team in our conference, would have liked to have, but there's no point chasing a kid who wont look at you
And I dont really understand the Hand grenade thing? What does that mean?

That's as in "close only counts..." If he was not intereted in SMU, it does not seem applicable here.

I thought the hand grenade reference was to the bar in new orleans that has the drink by that name. I suggest every down several before attending the Tulane game.

In his own words he said he wanted to visit SMU not too long ago. (See July 5 Rivals story) I was just updating the kids who had shown interest in SMU in my Texas Top 30 Post. Look if we don't count that as close then Phil Bennett ain't close to getting 98% of the Texas Top 100. Plus you'd think that Doherty would have a good shot at outrecruiting Tulane-for God's sake for this kid.

You'll get no argument here.

Breaking news: Jaws has decided to suspend arguments on this thread.
What are the odds that it can be sustained for an indefinite period of time?
Well, don't risk your IRA on it.

You would think Dallas would be a little more attractive than New Orleans right now. Maybe he has some family connections there, who knows.

It's still a beautiful city, and if you visit, you'll get a sense of history regarding an event that hopefully never will be repeated.
You'll also have a great time. Bourbon Street is still standing, and the New Orleans locals have always been as welcoming as any city I've ever visited.

Well, Tulane is in the nicest part of New Orleans and that area was not significantly affected by Katrina. It would be a beautiful and historic area in which to attend college.

I am certain that was his reason for picking Tulane.
