This is another kid SMU should keep an eye on. He has been lighting it up the last three weeks at Marcus. His parents and grandparents, are SMU alums. I think he is about 6'2 185.

Saw him play and talked to him after the game on Friday. He's thrown for over 1,000 yards in 3 games. This is his only year to start because he was behind Kevin Moore, a two-year starter who went to Tulane.

I was on the Marcus sideline. His footwork needs some help, but his arm strength is OK and he does a pretty good job of reading the defense. He's worked really hard over the summer.

There are no offers. He has talked with Fresno State and New Mexico and worked out in front of their coaches. Since he is so late and there is so little or no tape on him to evaluate, he is just now putting stuff together to send out.

The schools told him to send his tapes after non-district play is over. Based on what I saw, there is something to see.

Best of all, really, really nice young man. He was also the Texas Football player of the week for the win over Mansfield Summit.

Wow...

Let's make a move for Matt, it sounds like he would be a good fit in the program as he is very talented and smart. We are a bowl team now, he could come in and play for a team that is about to get a whole lot more exposure.

GO PONIES!!!

6-foot-2 isn't tall enough! Just ask Justin Willis!

I have seen him play, and we need to keep an eye on this guy.

I think he won Texas Football's Player of the Week for the preceding week.

New Mexico has offered him, Washington State and Fresno State are very active in this right now. Where are we? It might be a question to ask Rusty Burns. I know Joe Sawyer recruits this area, but obviously Burns has some influence on who he wants to pursue.

Trouble is, Faulkner has family that went to SMU. And we're not apparently interested? Wonderful.

The jury is still out on whether Burns can find his hind end with both hands and a flashlight vis-a-vis the football field.

I give considerably more credit to Willis than to R Burns.
When I no longer see his butt on the sideline instead of the pressbox, I will feel better.

Fresno State has formally offered him. He is going to take his visit to Washington State this weekend against California. Look for his third offer to come this weekend.

Too bad we're not interested.

Oh god, get over it. There are lots of players out there, lots of quarterbacks out there. Have you ever seen Logan Turner play? What about Wilkerson? Neither have I. That's not to suggest your son/nephew/whatever can't play, I'm sure he's a good player. But it's not like he's Matthew Stafford, and rated so highly that every coach in America is after him. He's a guy. Maybe a talented guy. What do you propose they do with him when they already will have Willis (knock on wood), Slater, Johnson, Rhodes, Turner and Wilkerson on the roster? Unless he's a USC-caliber player, we might be done at QB.

Here is the thing about that . . .how many "Matthew Staffords" have we recuited lately? 0? 1? The fact is you need as much quality depth at every position, beacasue injuries (i.e. rodgers, muse) and suspensions (i.e. Willis), transfers (Mccown), rock bands (Luker) happen, that you can get. If the guy can play the game the way your team plays it, recruit him, if not wish him good luck wherever he lands.
