According to Rivals, Arlington Bowie's 6'8" swingman, Robert Nyakundi found his recruitment sky rocket after his skillful play during the month of July. He had colleges fighting for his services from established programs from the Missouri Valley, Sunbelt, and the WAC. But it was a program that saw Nyakundi's long term potential and after this past Saturday, Nykundi will settle in Conference USA. He has committed to ol' SMU! "I have committed to SMU," said Nyakundi. "It's a good feeling to get this over with and not worry about it on the court once the season starts."

Nyakundi had three other offers on the table besides from the Mustangs, but felt no need to pursue them. "I had visits set for Louisiana Tech, Wichita State, and Arkansas Little Rock. I went to SMU on an unofficial and loved everything about," continues Nyakundi. "I felt comfortable with the coaching staff and they gave me a good feeling. Coach [Matt Doherty built a quick relationship with my family and he made me feel good about the situation there."

Nyakundi likes the location of the school. "SMU is not to far from home. It definitely is a convenience. It's nice to be close to home so my friends, family and people I know can come see me play."

a couple of weeks ago he was rated as the No. 76 player in Texas by Texas Hoops. However, the analysis said he was strong, coordinated and agile. Also the kid can shoot-at least free throws. I noticed from the Star Telegram that he was one of the top free throw shooters in Ft. Worth hitting 75-91 shots for .824%. We've had big kids that couldn't hit .824% of their layups.

The Analysis: Robert is a developing big man who continues to make strides. He has a good body but still learning how to use his size and strength to his advantage. He has a soft touch from 12-15 feet, runs the floor well, is a nice rebounder and can block shots. He can finish off the offensive boards, works hard at both ends and has nice coordination and agility. He is still a work in progress who needs to really start understanding the game and becoming a more instinctive player.

Obviously, this guy is a long term project but I'll be interested to see how he develops this year-one to closely monitor- a 6-7, 6-8 big man who has the potential to be a good shooter. I wouldn't be surpised if this is the kind of kid who could really move up with a strong senior year.

Just curious - based on the attributes you list, why do you say it's "obvious" that he's a long-term project? You make him sound like a good player.

The Analysis was made by someone else...Stallion was just quoting him and forgot to use quotation marks (inadvertaetly I'm sure). Stallion's interpretation of the analysis is that he is "obviously" a long term project. Get with it Pride.
