He is 6-3, 231 and runs a hand-held 40 time in the high 4.6s. Thus far, he has 8 sacks in the Dragons' first 5 games. Carroll's rushing defense has given up only 68 yards all year?
No offers, no visits yet. SMU, TCU, Baylor and Kansas are talking to him. I have learned that we are considering 3rd among all of our DL recruits. Sawyer liked what he saw on film.
Just kind of watch this. We're obviously developing a pipeline to Carroll with Enright and Fleps. Who knows if anything will materialize. But it usually is a policy for Carroll players to not mess with visits until after their season is over.
Given Carroll's success, that's usually January.

OK, B10PF -- sounds like you've seen him play.
What can you tell us about him as a player?

Haven't seen him this year. But I saw him last year. He's added about 20 pounds to his frame. He probably needs a little more improvement on his first-step explosion off the line.
What I have heard is that some schools -- see A&M -- aren't as interested because they think he has plateaued as a player and can't be coached to play at a higher level. That's a load of bull.
He is stronger, a little faster and when you play at Carroll, are well coached and you understand the nuances of your position very well. His height is good and you know he can add about 20-30 more pounds.
When you get a DI player from Todd Dodge, you get a good player. Just look at
Chase Daniel, McKay Jacobson, Garrett Hartley, Scott Chandler, Mitch Enright. The list goes on.

GPA, according to Rivals, of 3.7. Sounds like he is qualified and needs SMU to offer him a scholarship. I say go for it!

Big10, the Ag coaches are probably right-- what is Coach Fran gonna teach 'em that Todd Dodge hasn't already covered?
And, BTW, there were some SLC recruits visiting @ the Marshall game.

SMU could use some of the fans from South Lake. Great way to improve attendance and it does not hurt to add players from a winning tradition.

Col. Jessup, I think I detect that remark as tongue in cheek; hope so.
And SAPony, I agree. I regard Southlake as a larger, outer suburban version of Park Cities, and the reason I do is their focus on the community and their apparent lack of desire to have more than one high school, limit their square mileage growth, and an attempt to de-Plano themselves. The Woodlands would be a better comparison, but I hope you get my point.
It would be nice to pull a few players from there.

He was at the Marshall game. They have film on him from Carroll's first two game, Lake Highlands and Keller Central where he had about 19 tackles and 5 sacks.
No offer from us yet, but this relationship is starting to pick up steam. Wouldn't be surprised if we saw an offer by the end of the month. I think he would be a great asset for us.
As I mentioned earlier, when you get a player from Todd Dodge, you get a good player.

Great point SApony! Not only would Russo be a great fit at SMU, but I GUARANTEE you attendance would increase. Not just because Russo is from Southlake Carroll, although that will help, but more importantly Russo can play and could have a Rogers or Muse like impact here, or maybe he is even better!?
GO PONIES!!!

Settle down there. He might be very talented, but he's a senior in high school. Justin Rogers and Cory Muse have been very good DEs, and we'd all like to see another Rogers/Muse come through, but that's setting the bar awfully high. Let's get him committed and into the weight room and see what he becomes.
Don't get me wrong -- I hope you're right, of course!

Baylor may be getting into the offering business here
