According to Rivals, we have offered Kem Nweke, who is a huge 6-foot-10, 295-pound post from Fort Bend Marshall High School. Currently, Nweke's top four reads as follows - San Francisco, Tulane, Navy, and SMU. He's gotten offers from all four institutions and is ranking them all even until he can see them in person. He just took his SAT on Saturday.
He is looking for a good place that has a good coaching staff where he can further his education. He might sign early, but won't be rushed into a decision. In the summer, Nweke also listed schools such as Texas A&M, Colorado State, and Miami (FL) as schools showing interest.

Assuming from his last name that this kid is African. Man, there sure seem to be a lot of players from Africa interested in us of late. How did that pipleline get opened?

It is my opinion and my hope that many of these recruits - like
Papa and this one are interested because Bamba's relative is a scout
for the Mavericks, and because Bamba is here, and because of
Diop of the Mavericks.
If the recruits come to SMU they would have a built-in support group
plus proximity to the Mavs and NBA scouts.
Maybe this is just wishful thinking, but I think it may play some role in
why they are interested in us.

So is assuming things based on last names. I spend my life working for and providing for and defending for minorities and protected classes. I just do not like stupid statements based on nothing.

I asked Diop and he had no idea who Papa was. I thought he knew him

Wait a minute. You're not saying that my guess that Nweke is from the continent of Africa is racist are you?

Size like that doesn't come very often, he would make a HUGE impact on our team, hopefully we sign Nweke because he seems like a difference maker. Hopefully he takes an official visit soon. Maybe homecoming game? Or Tulsa? A big football game with a nice crowd would be encouraging, also basketball would be going on, so naturally that would be a good chance for him to see the impact that he could make immediately in games.
GO PONIES!!!

I am not going to get into that type of discussion on this board. Let me just say I have no reason to believe you are a racist, not am I calling you one. But realize that Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Ahmad Rashad, Muhammed Ali, et al are not directly from the continent of Africa.

Well apparently they are "African-Americans" so I would assume they are directly from Africa.
Right?

Well I would guess that they are from the middle east since those are all muslim names, if I didn't know they all changed their name to those.

really a lot of these kids are Africans-many Nigerians who have come over to the United States after being born in Africa ala Bamba Fall. Don't think this is really prejudicial-its a fact. Charles Opestiyan (sp) of Allen who just committed to Tulsa was born in Africa

You're a racist. You're stereotyping based on name. HATE CRIME! HATE CRIME! HATE CRIME! You can judge someone by their name or appearance!
