Rivals lists these four:
Papa Dia (3 stars) PF 6-9/225 NR South Kent, CT
William Eddie (unrated) PG 6-2/165 NR Detroit, MI
Ryan Harp (3 stars) SG 6-4/185 NR Abilene, TX
Alex Malone (3 stars) SF 6-8/185 NR Mansfield, TX
William Eddie changed his mind, didn't he? And don't we have a guard from Papa Dia's school committed?
So we're sitting at four commitments? Somehow I thought Dia made it five. Sure would like to see the other two big guys (Watuka and Nweke) fill out the remaining spots.
Keep it going, Coach D!

Eddie is out. He is going to go play for his dad. But you are right that we did get a commit from the Walker kid from the same prep school as Dia.
We also have received a commit from Robert Nyakundi from Arlington Bowie. I had never heard of him but he's 6'8 and apparently a decent prospect. So from what I can tell we have 5 commits when you take Eddie off the list, plus a couple other impressive guys we are still in the hunt for. Shaping up to be a very nice recruiting class.
If I have one complaint its that we have not recruited any JUCO players. I know Coach has said he doesn't plan to go the JUCO route, but if Bamba really intends to leave after next season, wouldn't it be good to get a JUCO stud in along with all these new freshman, D-Rob and Bamba for a potential run at an NIT bid? That might be overly optomistic for Doherty's second season but I think it could be a distinct possibility if we were willing to bring in an impact JUCO player- if there are even any left at this point.

Apparently there are major discussions about him leaviung after his Jr. year. I have posted on here before that I think he needs to be a dominant player in CUSA before he ever considers the leap, but who knows, maybe he becomes that player this season....

So now we have:
Papa Dia (3 stars) PF 6-9/225 NR South Kent, CT
Mike Walker (stars?) PG 6-1/??? NR Iowa City, Iowa
Ryan Harp (3 stars) SG 6-4/185 NR Abilene, TX
Alex Malone (3 stars) SF 6-8/185 NR Mansfield, TX
And who's the big (6-8) guy from Arlington?
This is shaping up to be a pretty impressive class.
Commit - Robert Nyakundi

From PonyFans.com 10/11/06
According to Rivals, Arlington Bowie's 6'8" swingman, Robert Nyakundi found his recruitment sky rocket after his skillful play during the month of July. He had colleges fighting for his services from established programs from the Missouri Valley, Sunbelt, and the WAC. But it was a program that saw Nyakundi's long term potential and after this past Saturday, Nykundi will settle in Conference USA. He has committed to ol' SMU! "I have committed to SMU," said Nyakundi. "It's a good feeling to get this over with and not worry about it on the court once the season starts."
Nyakundi had three other offers on the table besides from the Mustangs, but felt no need to pursue them. "I had visits set for Louisiana Tech, Wichita State, and Arkansas Little Rock. I went to SMU on an unofficial and loved everything about," continues Nyakundi. "I felt comfortable with the coaching staff and they gave me a good feeling. Coach [Matt Doherty built a quick relationship with my family and he made me feel good about the situation there."
Nyakundi likes the location of the school. "SMU is not to far from home. It definitely is a convenience. It's nice to be close to home so my friends, family and people I know can come see me play."

Two power forwards, a shooting guard and two point guards, not a bad start at all. If our man Fall stays, we could have a very deep and competitive team in '07.

I believe the comment was that 08 was the question mark for Fall, whether he could jump to the NBA after his junior year.

IT should be 2 PF's, a SF, a SG, and a PG
maybe you thought Eddie was still committed??

I didn't see if anyone already posted this.
Doherty told me Dia is from the same home town in Senegal that Fall is from.

Ya'll have a very nice recruiting class comming in to SMU this year! Dia is my favorite of this class. I'd say it puts you in the top 4 in the C-USA come 2008.
Any Signings

Did we sign any of our commitments today?
