Good ole boy at Church's Fried Chicken had SMU stickers all over his truck. Of course, I have to bite. He is tickled to death that his niece is at SMU now, and his nephew (her brother) is an OLineman for Jefferson and is a Junior. "Mauldin" is their last name, if I recall. Fella said that his nephew had already taken ACT, and he was being gently courted by Iowa State. He said that he was 6' 3" 260 lbs, pretty good size for a 3A Junior.
He made the point that he was interested in SMU, and his uncle was candid in saying that Iowa State wasn't falling all over themselves about him. But that in his biased opinion, SMU certainly has a shot if they choose to be interested. Can somebody make sure that Jerry Bennett knows about this kid? Jefferson just named their stadium after Jerry and dedicated it last Friday. Even if not somebody we are earnest about, it doesn't cost SMU anything for Jerry to talk to him.

A SMU alum (one to whom Bennett attributes his beginning in football) is AD at Evangel Christian in S'port now as well. Former O-Lineman Dan Moreman Sr. (1966 SWC Champions). Bennett, Roark, & Co. can not overlook these guys as sources. They are within the 300 mile radius of Dallas.

If there's a three-year-old in Jefferson with any talent, rest assured Jerry Bennett knows about him.

yeah i know the kid hes more like 6'4" about 275 and still growing. he is really undecided about schools but wants the chance to go to SMU. Rice, and Iowa have asked about him requesting tape and corresponding with him. got a lot of potential if he continues to work hard and keep his head on straight

All you can really do is pass the information on to coaches. Via e-mail of fax is the best.

I have done that a few times.

the Field at Jefferson High School is being named in his honor I think this weekend. I'm sure he'll get a first hand view of the kid then.
