I am hoping that the nationally televised victory sparks some more interest in recruiting! Hopefully a few unsigned players were watching it and it influenced them to maybe take a look at a school like SMU. Hopefully some of our key recruits left liked what they saw, because I sure did.
GO PONIES!!!

It brought a recently unprecedented amount of publicity. That cannot hurt us, it is true.

I thought Brandon Bonds was the star of the night, at least in terms of the TV broadcast.
1. His pregame speech to the team was great: mentioned schools that the guys could have gone to (whether that was accurate or not), and told them that they were at SMU "for a reason." The fact that he said "at SMU" rather than just "here" was significant.
2. He had one hit on the QB that was amazing. (He hit the quarterback FIVE TIMES, which is tremendous for a DT.) On one play, he didn't just tackle the guy - he shot in from the left side of the screen and the quarterback just disappeared off the screen. Sensational hit.
3. The shot of the linemen dancing in the locker room before the game (after BB's speech) was great. Funny, but also hopefully an indicator to any recruits watching the game that they will work extremely hard at SMU, and have fun at the same time. This is a pretty close-knit group of guys, and that came across on ESPN2.

All true.. except the commentators also pointed out that on the drives where UAB was running the ball well, they were plowing over Brandon Bonds almost every time.
