FWST reporting Herron commited. Kid is a heck of a LBer and is 6-0/215/4.6 with an incredible 36" vert:
TOP PLAYERS FOR ARLINGTON BOWIE
Vols duo commits
Posted: Monday, November 20, 2006
Two Bowie players recently committed to different schools. Free safety Chris Jones (6-3, 175) committed to Rice and linebacker Julian Herron (6-0, 215) committed to SMU. Bowie coach Kenny Perry expects offensive lineman Jacob Riley (6-3, 310) to be the next to decide.

Rated 5.3 two star. Nice offers-Baylor(although I wonder if that is up-to-date since Baylor is right at the Scholarship limit-could be), Washington St, Rice, UTEP and Tulsa. Nice athlete who reportedly runs 4.5 485 squat, 36 Vertical leap and a 10-4 broad jump(standing I presume)

No. 70 on the DMN Area Top 100. Additionally Scout confirms above offers but also adds an offer from TCU and a visit to TCU on 10/28/06

For what its worth-I don't put any stock in the guy-Max Emfinger rates Herron as a 5 star recruit, the No. 48 Player in the State of Texas and says he runs a 4.33. Noted that he has either seen him on film or in person. Herron has been invited to the Emfinger All-American Bowl in Shreveport.

In March Scout rated Herron as the No. 84 Player in the State of Texas-I'm pretty sure the list has been updated I'll check.

FeistyFrog who does a list of top TCU targets for Killerfrogs.com had Herron at the Top of his list of LB targets(2nd) for TCU with some nice comments.

Bowie has been a great Division I pipeline for the last several years when Anthony Criss started. Kenny Perry is an Arlington Lamar disciple and did great jobs at Sam Houston and Haltom before taking Bowie to its first playoff appearance -- ever.
Now, for the bad news. Perry was on that Houston team that beat us, 95-21. Seriously, he's a good guy, and he would have helped us get a good read as to whether Herron could help us.

Just goes to show that you can't even trust Rivals for recruiting info. They don't even have SMU listed as a potential choice of his under school listings!
