DL RECRUITS

With Coach Bennett returning, all defensive line prospects should seriously consider coming to SMU. All you guys saw how well coached SMU's defensive line was this last year. With three starters graduating this spring, this is THE YEAR to come to SMU. Obviously, the offense should be even better next year with so many starters returning. SMU could have alot better team next year if the D Line can have about the same level of play as last year. Also, a great time for Junior College recruits to consider. Just look at the great career DT Adrian Haywood had at SMU. He has a good chance to make a team that plays on Sundays.

Not that I see except for Marvin Wells out of Houston 6' 0" 250 Rivals 2 Star 5.1 rating. Only showing interest in SMU ( medium )

Sometimes those lists don't include ALL of the schools that a kid is interested in.

Just look at Herron for confirmation of this observation.

Good point, also the list I was refering to was High School seniors, it does not include potential Junior College recruits. However, I mentioned DT Marvin Wells and Rivals is calling him talented but at 6'0" 250 now I'm sure he would be a redshirt next year. We really need a couple of big JC's this year to be able to come in and help out the DL in 07.

Charles Brallier is still considering us provided we are still considering him.
Charles Brallier is still considering us provided we are still considering him.
...............................DT Charles Brallier 6' 3" 305, Rivals rating 5.0. He is certainly the right size and apparently a strong player. The apparent problem here is a reported 5.5 forty. Very slow for a defensive tackle. He probably would be better suited for the offensive line.

Nah...put him in a 1 or 2 position off the non-dominant-hand side of the QB. Pull a Haywood and knock the snot out of whatever comes that side.
Tell him before you put him in that you want to see blood coming out of the RBs nose.

Haywood's effectiveness came from quickness, not snot-knocking.

Handy might be one we can count on-I think he needs to bulk up and move inside.
Haywood's effectiveness came from quickness, not snot-knocking.
................I think Haywood has run a 4.7 forty. That is the ticket, big, strong and fast DL and we will be hard to beat.

Exactly -- there were times Haywood was in the backfield so quickly that it looked like the other team was running that "freeze play" that SMU runs on offense. His quickness and anticipation are unbelievable.
