...what was his name again? Any updates?

edit: DE Hlvaty and CB McCoy are their names.

Have had SMU on their lists with 'Medium' for awhile...were they at any of SMU's games?

From what I gather, McCoy is the real deal, a small but fast CB who apparently hits much bigger than his frame. Tons of offers, but SMU is still in the running.

Hlavaty is a tall (6-4 or 6-5, depending on which report you read) OLB/DE type. Great academics, I assume, since his options also include Vanderbilt, Northwestern and Stanford. No idea how good he is on the field.

McCoy plays WR/DB and looked great in the playoffs and I think lead the state in Ints.

Hlavaty was the leading tackler on the team and most schools looked at him as a DE though he played OLB. Good speed.

He also has returned kicks in at least some games. The thing that sticks with me about him is that there was a blog by some DMN writer who went to a couple of Woodrow Wilson games last year to write about all-everything LB Sergio Kindle who was headed to play for UT. The writer (I think it might have been McMahon, but I don't remember) wrote that the guy he couldn't take his eyes off of was McCoy, who he said was "easily" the best player on the field .... not Kindle. If it had been a one-game analysis, that's one thing -- maybe he had just "one of those games" when everything goes right. The fact that it happened twice suggests he really is a very talented player.

McCoy (5-10, 175) visited SMU last weekend and goes to Iowa next weekend. Comments on SMU "I went to SMU last weekend and everything went well. I found out they graduate 100% of their football players so that was pretty impressive. I didn't know what to expect on my first visit but it was fun." Others to offer are Arizona, Baylor, TCU and Louisiana Tech. Michigan St. may be getting involved. Rivals has some very impressive reels on McCoy as a WR and KO and PR too although he is generally considered a CB prospects. This guy is a seriously underrated prospect at 5.3.

McCoy visited Iowa this weekend but didn't commit which is good. He seemed impressed by the fact that everyone in Iowa supports the Hawkeyes but no comments that he seemed to be a bowled over by the visit. Probably visit TCU in January and then decide.
