your favorite recruit now has video on Rivals. COMMENT: there are 3 reels of film on this guy and about 30-40 plays supposed to be his highlites. Not a single sack in the highlites-not a good sign. At first glance he appears to be too slow and not quick enough for DT-he does look taller than 6-3 and he's thick though-probably fat is more like it at 328-if he gets a lot of offers I bet its at OLM not DLM.

Do you think he would be quick enough at say 295 to 305?

Most of these guys you get what you see. Now if he was like 350 and dropped down to 305, okay.

not sure-I would think he's an offensive lineman. I notice that his offer is from Hawaii that plays a Nose Guard-if he's going to play DLM it would more likely be as a NG run stopping type player. He should be able to dominate high school players and rush the passer better in my opinion if he's a Division 1A DT.

So, somewhat like a Brandon Bonds.

Man we need some big guys up front on the Dline.

How many big, fat NTs in the NFL do you see pressuring the QB? Massive guys who clog up the middle are valuable players.

I guess I might add that guys who can beat RBs to the corner are valuable too... could have used a couple of those against Houston.

I don't think anyone is trying to insinuate that Charles Brallier is going to lead the team in sacks (he did have 4.5 this past year and 19 QB Hurrys) but we need the grunt workers as well.

Wouldn't it have been nice in that Houston game when Haywood and Bonds went down and Houston was just running free to have another big body that could stuff up the middle especially with Battle and Aldridge's final two big runs starting inside?

This kid is big and strong and seems to have a knack for forcing double or triple teams which can free up other defenders to make the big play.

Yes, we need him and the JUCO 310 # guy that runs 4.9.

Bring in a herd of BIG MEN.

BONDS ran about a 5.0/5.1 40. Rivals says Brallier runs a 5.5. If correct , he is to slow now to play DL in our defense. Maybe if he lost some weight etc. like Bonds did but knowbody with 5.5 speed is going to come in and be competitive with the guys we have coming back or provide real playing time depth, which we really need next year. Now the big JC player that runs a 4.9 could be a great addition in the spring.

DT speed is not a necessity . . . it is an added bonus, but DT's are usually not expected to run down plays from behind, if they do, great, but not required.
Sports, and all that implies.

a refrain often used by teams that can't recruit big guys that can run down QBs and RBs. I 'll take the athletes like Adrian Haywood anyday. Its been so long since we've had a guy like Haywood that can actually run I think you guys have lost touch with what a Championship team needs at DT. During the last 16 years DTs that can run have been SMU's biggest deficiency other than QB.
