...for UCF. Weatherford is the brother of the Florida St. QB and son of Hillcrest and SMU QB Bill Weatherford and also had a grandfather who played QB at SMU.

Is he any good? Would he be a good fit here? What percentage of schools keep their legacies in the fold?

He wanted to come to SMU. Evidently, we couldn't find a spot for him. He was rated by Rivals as the #28 Pr-Style QB recruit in the nation, but to Bennett & Co.'s defense, Logan Turner outperformed him 6 ways to Sunday when they both attended camp here last summer. This last season seems to support our coaches decision. Weatherford's 2,000 passing yards, 20 TDs and 10 picks looks pretty anemic compared to Turners 3,256 yards passing 37 TD and 11 picks.

Bennett is reallly excited about Turner. Probably only QB we sign this year. Too many other holes to fill.

Yeah... He would've been our highest rated recruit in the class thus far I believe.

I guess Peruna Punch has some inside information but I've read many stories over 2 years on this kid and I never felt SMU was a strong player in his recruitment. It seemed like more of a coutesy nod to his family's legacy.
