Derek Lilly commits

Postby HFvictory » Tue Dec 19, 2006 10:25 am

From FWST:

Mansfield offensive lineman Derek Lilly (6-foot-3, 285 pounds) has committed to SMU. He missed five games this season after stretching his medial collateral ligament.

No, but a good kid, good overall strength and decent speed (5.0/40) for his size.

About the only thing on the internet is that he was part of the Fort Worth Star Telegram Area Top 50 and had interest in Northwestern State University(Louisiana), Texas State Monument, Louisiana-Marilyn Monroe and OSU. We are recruiting with the big boys of the Southland Conference now and its only mid December.

Rivals confirms SMU commitment. Rates him at 5.1 and says Colorado St. also offered.

Can't have enough big uglies.
It used to be that we'd recruit them at 250 and hope they grow to 280. Here's another thick guy, who hopefully will only get bigger and stronger with more physical maturity.
(By the way, there's 2 L's, not 3 -- it's Lily, from what I've been able to find.)
Welcome to the Hilltop, Derek!

Is this guy only an O-lineman? I ask because Rivals lists Jim Gush as his recruiter, not Rusty Burns. Does he play any D-line?
