It is not a good sign that we do not have any Juco players or transfers announced for next year. What is going on at SMU? I thought there were substantial changes made in the admission policies. Another lie by the administration.

actually there are two alternatives: either a) our admission standards are hindering our recruiting or b) our Coaches can't recruit. Which is the official Cheerleaders line this year? Actually I'd rather that SMU not chase some third tier JUCOs like last year just to say we got some.

As I recall, Bennett said the other night there would be a number of JUCO signings. I believe in the 4-6 range. I guess we will see in the next few days.

Just keep in mind that there are two recruiting positions available on Phil Bennett's staff. Have you filled out your application so you can express these opinions and make them known to the SMU administration? Then you can tell them the best way to go about recruiting. I mean, since you know everything there is to know.

I though PB was talking about 1 DL, 1 S, 1 Offense. No QB.

Since Slater is apparently staying, I do not believe we are looking at a JUCO QB unless at another position or as an athlete. I thought DL were on the list.

I'm guessing there are other JUCO and prep school DTs out there.

Those hoping for more junior college help than the one commitment already mentioned on this board are going to be disappointed, I have been told. Sorry.

This guy sucks (Bennet)! How can anyone be optimistic with the way the recruiting season has been going? This is really upsetting, I just can't believe how we tolerate losers.

If by (b), you mean that the coaches are late in the game or haven't been as aggressive as they could have been in the past, either because they were too busy trying to win, or because they are too busy being considered for other jobs, or whatever, then I'd say that one is a definite.

But I'd put a third possibility as well (you tell me what you think):
the fact that Bennett realistic faces another year at best to keep this ship from listing over (maybe two if the AD doesn't want to pay him off). That is not exactly what I'd want to hear if I am a recruit.
