Austin (Texas) McNeil offensive center Bryce Tennison made a commitment this past weekend after taking an official visit to an in-state school.
Driving up to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, the 6-foot-2, 290-pounder took in SMU. Apparently, it was all he needed to see in order to make a decision on which school he was choosing. "I'm going to SMU," Tennison said about his commitment. "It was the people there. They reminded me of my friends back home. Plus, it's not too far from home and it's going to be a really good program up there. "Some of the guys that committed already are only going to make the program better as well." Tennison's recruiting coach from SMU, Ronnie Vinklarek, impressed the young lineman with his NFL experience. "He's intense but another good thing I like about him is that he has connections to the NFL," Tennison said. "Not many college coaches have that experience to the league." As for whether or not he's still thinking about visits, Tennison responded confidently with a firm "no." "I'm done with trips," Tennison said. "Once I committed, I knew that was going to be it."
Allright conspiracy theorists-I thought I remember Rivals reporting an Iowa St. offer too but with this latest report it seems to have disappered. Of course, there could be a good reason-Tennison wasn't quoted as saying that Iowa St. offered in the reports on file-perhaps he clarified it to the reporter on his commitment story. Just full disclosure. If you do a Google search Iowa St. was listed as in contention but Google blocks out the old offer lists.
to expound on his Rivals' Nike camp performance he really did well especially in the quickness drills. He ran a 5.2 (3rd out of 28 offensive linemen) Inexplicably, in his profile they failed to give him credit for that good time and list him at a much slower 5.48. In the Shuttle he ran a 4.88 (7th out of 28). In the Bench Press he benched 24 times(12th out of 30) and in the Verical he posted a 25.5 10th out of 33). Also he was verified at 6-3 NOT 6-2 which again is incorrectly listed on his profile page. Don't you hate it when Rivals underposts height and performance results. Thank god Stallion is here to set the record straight!!!
