Who are the other decent recruits that SMU is still in the hunt for at this point? In other words, what names should I be watching and hoping for committments from?

De'von Bailey, Greg McCoy, Bradley Haynes, Derrius Bell, Jonathan Jones, Justin Johnson, Joseph Florence, J.T. Brooks. Those are some of the names I was hoping would be filling out the class.. Not holding my breath. This is shaping up as yet another very mediocre middle of the rung CUSA class-Top 85 type of class. Unless you see some of those names this is nothing special.

Granted I don't think rankings are everything in the world, but after our mediorce to poor play in Bennett's tenure isn't it sort of troubling to see a recruiting class that reminds you of all the others? Full of "great finds noone knows about" by PB and his top notch staff.

I will be the first to say I have really been down on football since this most recent dissappointing season. And maybe I am a bit jaded too, but I do not think it is in bad spirit to point out that this class does not have many highly regrded prospects.

Is Johnson the kid that got into the spat with Baylor. I read somewhere that he was reeling from that and that SMU had become a player.

Right. Because like the rest of us, you've seen the committed players in action, and are trained in talent analysis. The only players worth having are the ones you list here, huh? Surely the other guys can't play. After all, Justin Willis is too short to be a successful quarterback at the college level, right? I'm also not sure we're going to get shut out on your list of the only guys worth having, either.

Willis was one of our highest rated recruits over the last couple of years with three stars and a Rivals rating of 5.5.

How many Jucos did Boise State have? Did they have some great transfers?
A #85 class worked out for them.......

- from another post -

Rivals Rankings:

2007: #79 (current)
2006: #70
2005: #64
2004: #85 (SMU #76)
2003: #101 (SMU #62, Bennett's first full recruiting class) -- Derek Schouman, their TE 2-star - TRUE SENIOR CLASS
2002: #74 (SMU #69, Bennett's first class) -- Jared Zabransky, their QB, no stars - RS SENIOR CLASS

I was asking a serious question, do you know if Boise had a lot of jucos or transfers?

Not saying our recruits would blossom into what theirs did, but I gotta have something to make me keep buying season tickets.

This does not answer your question but I do remember a graphic from the bowl game that showed 43 of their players from California. They do play some pretty good FB out there and there are several JCs I believe.

Well if they do load up on Jucos then there goes the little ounce of hope that keeps me getting season tickets. Maybe next year jtstang can sit on your lap and I take the extra seat. This way everyone wins....except you....and jtstang........and probably the ponies.
