Why no other offers for Dennis? I wonder. 4.4 time is pretty darn fast with two years of JUCO experience. Any gossip about this player?

I talked to him yesterday. Said the best 40 time he ever posted was .... a 4.28, which was timed by several stopwatches at the same time. He said he consistently has run in the mid-4.3s.

I don't know that it consitutes "gossip," but I had no idea he had that kind of speed.

Strange that Dennis is listed on Rivals the way he is. For most other schools, JuCos are at the top of the page under a category "Already Signed Letter of Intent;" in Rock's case, he is listed along with the HS players who can't sign an LOI until Feb.

7. LB/SS Julian Herron (6-0, 200 4.33 )(Emfinger) Arl. Bowie Rated 5.3 (TCU, Baylor, Washington St., Rice, UTEP, Tulsa)

Is 4.33 confirmed? That would an awesome time for a 200 pounder.

Time is confirmed. The distance is in question.

that's what Emfinger has down-don't really trust the guy. I don't subscribe and not sure if they have a camp where this was achieved. I guess it it unverified unless someone has an Emfinger subscription.Emfinger has some reason for putting him in his Texas Top 50 and the speed makes sense.

as I mentioned before he won the performance tests at Garden City for strength and conditioning. 35 is pretty good vertical leap for a 5-10 kid.

Double checked on Rock Dennis to see if I could find any info on other schools recruiting him. Rivals story said that Utah St. and Western Kentucky (Division 1-AA) recruited him hard but technically no offers mentioned.

would Logan Turner have had other offers if he had not committed early?

I like taking kids away from schools like Indiana. smu ought to have some success swooping in and saying are you sure to kids who commit to places like Indiana, Kansas, Minnesota, Illinois etc. Its not like kids in Texas grew up dreaming of playing for the Hoosiers or long winters.

Someone posted on this site some comments from the coach at Memphis, saying if Turner was 6'4" he'd be "recruited by everyone in the country" or something. I thought I remembered reading that Memphis had offered, too. I know he's not built like Josh McCown, but with the numbers this guy has put up, he would have gotten some schools, somewhere, to offer a scholarship -- he's just too damn productive to let height shut him out. I'm hoping we landed a real keeper here.
