Joseph Fulce.

There was an article the other day in the DMN that said he was no longer committed to Texas A&M. This could be another nice swingman for us.

per the dmn, hope he doesn't like the east coast that much:

Former Plano hoops star withdraws A&M commitment
08:31 PM CST on Sunday, January 21, 2007

By RACHEL COHEN / The Dallas Morning News
Former Plano star forward Joseph Fulce, who originally signed with the Texas A&M men’s basketball team and is attending prep school, said he has reopened his recruiting and probably won’t wind up with the Aggies. Fulce said he has yet to narrow down his options.

The 6-7 Fulce, who led Plano to a state championship and earned first-team All-Area honors last year, is at Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock, Va., and said he likes the East Coast.

“I want to start fresh and make sure I do what’s right for me and my family,” he said.

actually A&M way way oversigned by 2-3 and this is one of the casualties. Probably could have had him if it weren't for that.

Here is what Gillispie said about him when he signed there:

Fulce (6-6, 180) averaged 16.8 points and 7.7 rebounds last season at Plano High School and is rated as the 28th best prospect in the state by Texas Hoops. He also was recruited by Colorado, Pepperdine, SMU and San Diego State.

"Joseph is extremely long and he's still growing," Gillispie said. "He's a really good perimeter shooter for his size. He's very tall with really good skills and I think he'll be a very good player for us down the road."

I am surprised we are not going after anymore PG's, especially since both Dez and Jon will graduate next year - then again, I think it is much harder to find quality big men then it is point guards at this level.

Check our turn over ratio - we could use a point guard at the moment - we dont really have one at all now. No dig on Kileen - he ought to be a 2 anyway.

Looks like Doherty is putting all his eggs on Mike Walker for the point guard position.

This kid sounds like he wants to stay east. I am sure there will be plenty of suitors. If not ACC or BE. There are Atlantic 10 or CAA teams in need of talent. Richmond, UNCC, UNCW, Old Dominion, Geoge Mason, St. Joseph's, Temple all come to mind.

I would imagine that the whole staying east is a cover so that A&M or Fulce does not look bad. Gilespie probably told him that if he went to A&M that he would not get much playing time.

Hopefully his family still lives in Plano.

If the recruiting class already is No. 25, how much would it jump if this guy was added?

At least a couple of spots. Fulce is a stud. Tall and lean with a huge wingspan - like Sam Perkins. He is a slasher with incredible finishing skills. Jumper is a little inconsistent. He is the kind of athlete Doherty needs....

Issue is smarts. He couldn't qualify to get into A&M so I would think it would be very difficult if not impossible to get into SMU. He would be fun to watch, though...............

are you positive he didn't qualify. Not sure. I thought he might have been convinced to go to prep school because quite frankly A&M oversigned.

I checked on some stories from last year and he did say he didn't get the SAT score he needed to qualify.

so after a year at Prep would he be qualified now, or does this fall under one of SMU's cr@ppy recruiting situations.
Would love to see Doh fight for this one.

Sterling Melville, Plano West Small Forward & James Graham, Mesquite Horn PG are 2 LOCALS that should seriously be considered.
Graham can score on anyone & handle the ball, something the team currently does not have either of.
Melville is just a solid player that is a major college talent. 8)
