DMN is reporting that Stanford has dropped DB Eddie Morgan from McKinney after being committed for 4-5 months. Don't know much about him but might be an opportunity there. He seemed to have been looking at a lot of quality private schools especially before his commitment. Might be a guy we want to run our traps on-or at least consider for a greyshirt.

Kid sounds like a prospect. Ist Team All-District at both RB and unanimous as a Safety plus he was the District Specialist of the Year. In preseason he was rated on the Top 50 players in the area. The deal at Stanford is they recalculated his GPA and SAT and he didn't meet Stanford's requirement which I'm told are the very highest in Division 1A Football. I'm preety sure he'd be eligible anywhere else. Worth a call.

tied for 2nd with second best shuttle speed out of all 51 DBs at the A&M Nike camp. Didn't run the 40.

I'm being told that this player may also be having a problem with the academic requirements at Stanford and may get his offer pulled:
S Taylor Skaufel 6'0 190 4.4 The Woodlands 01/14/07

Funny he was the kid that had the best shuttle at the Nike camp. I saw Morgan SATs and GPA on a board. 3.7 and 1507-but I guess that could be the new expanded test-don't know-but its still good enough to get into ANY other school.

Are we even taking any more?
There were a bunch of guys in this weekend, being courted as walk-on candidates. Anyone know who they were?

We may take as many as 25. Not sure if that includes grey shirts or not.

I think the answer is the new coach (Harbaugh) backed off of him. Who knows why.

We won't take him as the Academic Committee will judge that if he isn't good enough for Stanford or Northwestern, he certainly would not qualify acedemically for SMU!

committed to Duke-a happy ending for the kid who got a taste of the ugly side of college football recruiting.
