Today's DMN recruiting list has SMU with 10 recruits in the area top 100 and 0 in the state top 100 with two un-committed area top 100's listing interest in SMU.
This class appears to be as good as any in quite a while (based only on the numer of area top 100's). It also looks to be about as good as TCU (again, only on the numer of area top 100's).
Any updates on the rankings for SMU and TCU (and Baylor, Houston, Tulsa and UNT if you have time)?

TCU's class buried SMU's class for at least the 16th year out of 17 years.

Who won the last SMU - TCU game?

Which team has gone to about 9 bowls in 10 years, been nationally ranked multiple times, won multiple conference championships, actually dominates the Big 12 in straight up meetings? Recruiting is about building a strong football program not about winnining one measly game every decade or so.

This is why we are Losers!
If that remark represents the feelings of most SMU fans, no wonder we haven't been to a bowl. We suck, but hey,we beat TCU once every 15 years! After they kick our asses for the next 5 years, our response will be "but we beat TCU in 2005."

Dominates the Big 12? I think that is a little strong. Let's see how they do in Austin this year. Other than OU, who took them lightly, they beat the bottom half of the Big 12. Good for them. Patterson is a good coach, and good coaches get results from their talent.
Actually, I hope tcu is successful, just like I was glad Boise beat OU, as there needs to be success in the non-BCS conferences to get to where somebody will listen about a playoff system. We should all hope that tcu has a good team, because if and when we do beat them, it means something.

Tech, Iowa State in a bowl game, OU at Norman? Not quite the bottom half teams.

Whatever you think, but look at the standings. Get them to play OU, UT, A&M, Nebraska, etc. and see how they do.

Their record has been excellent since Coach Fran/Patterson got there about ten years ago. Lets remember though, TCU was pitiful for years in the 1960's, 70's and most of the 80's and early 90's.TCU failed to beat SMU for 23 years in a row during the periods mentioned above. So what ?..........Well, most of our problem post DP has been our admmission policy which is improving. I think we are close to turning our program around as our recruiting seems to have improved this year and our previous recruiting classes finally have produced some good key offensive players such as Freshman All America QB Justin Willis............ I think Orsini's hire will prove to be huge for us and remember TCU's program turned around when they hired a quality new AD.

Finally looked at the newspaper, it is different than the online version which is dated in November. Kelly Griffin the TCU commit is so good he is rated as both the 33rd 66th ranked player in the area.

It shows how good these "lists" are. Everybody knows who are the top 20 or 30 prospects in the nation, state, area. The next 150 or could be said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I wish we could get in on the top 20 or 30 but we are not there.

look why don't you just admit you don't know the first thing about what you are talking about. That theory has worked out so well for SMU Cheerleaders over the years. You don't think we haven't heard the same thing each year every year in the last 17. Recruiting matters-there is a direct correlation between recruiting and winning especially in relation to your competition. SMU has recruited mediocre to poor in 15 out of 17 season which proves the recruiting services are stinking "geniuses" at least in comparison to the 85% on this board who keep predicting bowl games every year. The recruiting services have a track record-Cheerleaders like you have a track record. The recruiting services track record has been unbelievably accurate in comparison to the track record of guys like you. You guys get all Bad-Ass this time of year-every year but never want to concede that the recruiting services must have been right all along 4-5 years later-16 straight times.

They barely squeaked one out against our terrible team last year.
