Fantastic read for anyone who is just recently trying to catch up with our recruiting efforts or a refresher mfor those who have been following for quite some time. I myself love to read who we list actually offered the player besides us. We really beat out some quality teams this year, unlike last season.

I however do find it interesting when they don't say who else offered the player but instead say he chose SMU over... One player chose SMU over Florida, Texas and some other amazing programs. Does that mean he picked playing football here over being a student at the other schools or what?

it means he got a letter in the mail-I believe you are talking about Ben Goldthrope. He didn't get an offer from one of 8 schools he listed. When interviewed by Rivals he himself said his only other offers were from Division II schools.

Since I will say it nicer than the other guy, for that recruit that states he
Chose SMU over Florida, Texas
A&M, Texas Tech, Kansas, Kansas State, Arkansas, Baylor
and Oklahoma State.

Rivals says he only received one offer and that was from us.....so don't get to excited.
Glad to have them all though.....

**Edit**
the other guy beat me to it

I realize we were his only offer which is why I was wondering what the threshhold for "chose SMU over _____" was. More toungue in cheek than anything. If he is just listing off schools he likes then I guess I chose my car over a Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari and Aston Martin.

Yep I got a letter from UCLA basketball when I was being recruited... forget the fact that I was a 6'2" 260 pound shot putter at the time.... weird
